Hello,

I once bought Humble Bundle monthly to get a game and share the rest but I learned they started to give out keys with region restrictions.
My friend wrote them a letter about this, asking how to know which key is restricted or now, how to know and what if he wants to share the key with his cousin who lives in another region....
Unfortunately he didn't get satisfactory answers.

Do you know a way to check if a bundle has region restrictions or not?
I just created some giveaways but that problem is bugging me a lot.

Yeah, that is it.
Thank you very much.
I am relieved only Call of Duty is region locked.

Under Platform Header I saw some letters: W M L
DO you know their meanings?

Doesn't it say if it has any restrictions when you click on the button to make a gift link?

It does. The only time it doesn't say it is when you buy a gift purchase from the store.

It often gives wrong data there. Like, telling people that game is restricted while it's not (

Ok, I did not know that, thanks!

This website can provide some indicators: https://steamlocked.com/

e.g. NieR: Automata: https://steamlocked.com/app/524220

So I can check if there is only one version/region, isn't it?

No, you will see the different keys that were given out ("SubID") and what restrictions they have. On top of the page you see the summary. Unless you know the precise SubID, it's a good indicator..

At first I was exited to see someone made a site to automatically check restricted subscriptions, usually I check this manually on steamdb. But it's not very useful. It does shows if I can actiavate/run keys from other regions, but it doesn't show if keys I buy can be activated elsewhere. And that's much more important if we are talking about SG. One can of course check all countries, but that's not convenient.
Raw data table is still useful though.

You can click on create gift link and it tell you what are the restriction if any, after that if you don't want to create a gift link you can still cancel.

For me, the best thing is the humble monthly/bundle topics on SG discussion forum each month. Shakti is very good at updating the stuff so people are usually aware of the locks for the regions.

As the others have said, the bundle thread is one of the best ways to determine if there are any locks. Humble bundle sometimes provides false or misleading information.

So it looks like there is no real accurate way of knowing if a key is region locked or not :(

I think Steam tightening up key generation have something to do with this - only titles which have some sales can generate a large number of keys to participate in bundles.

I thought this might have something to do with the people who buys the bundles to sell the games.

HB said it is companies which decided to start giving keys with regions but it might be either HB, Steam or companies.
