So you can keep the functionality of 7 while keeping the nice tweaks that win 8 has like faster bootup speeds, native iso mounting(while many years late, it still is quite useful) among others for the low low price of free. I hardly would consider this program garbage just because Microsoft dropped the ball here.

Using Windows 8.
No problem in it.
Used Windows 7.
No problem in that too.
Keep 8 if you like it, or switch back to Windows 7. There isn't really much difference except for the GUI.

Depends on what GUI you prefer. Here is a gaming benchmark comparison

I use now Windows 8 since day 1 and i prefer it. takes less memory, new task manager, new recovery mode, integrated antvirus, personalise start screen. some of the metro apps are very nice. Windows 8.1 is even better. more tweaked. the apps are upgraded lik the mail app with multi accounts. guys just try it before start talking shits. sure its different but thats good. everything is evolving and changing.

+1
Using 8 since RTM leaked then install again when came out on DreamSpark to activate original...now using 8.1 RTM, damn too much good, fast and tweaked, installed in 4 minutes counted.

If you get Windows 8, get a start menu program like Startisback. It will alleviate about 95% of any headaches introduced in the new OS. Most of them are either free or have free trials, so feel free to experiment and find what's best for you. I'd personally recommend Startisback as for me it was far, far more stable than Start8.

Get whatever version you prefer. You like the aero theme in W7? Then get that.. If not windows 8 is your choice. They perform equally in games really and the metro UI in W8 can be completely disabled with a program
Myself I prefer W8 because It felt a bit faster (booting and starting programs etc) no difference in gaming though as I said.
PS: I used W8 since it came out last year and I never had any problems with any game so should be fine.

You shouldnt if you do an update rather than clean install. However, back up everything important regardless. you never know what might happen.

I bought a new Windows 8 PC, a cheap one, not a gaming PC, and I liked the style of Windows 8, so I was thinking of buying them for my gaming PC. I haven't tested out any games on the other computer, and I don't think I will... So, I wonder, do you think it's better for a gaming PC (RAM-wise, or anything else) to have Windows 7 or 8? I'm asking that because Vista was a very bad edition for a gaming PC with 4GB ram (thankfully I got my 7 soon), so I don't want this to happen with 8 as well... From what I've seen, Windows 8 isn't heavy, but since I am too bored to get into learning all the details, I wonder if someone has already got an answer about it... I was hoping I could test the Windows 8 on my PC, but the key is locked in the BIOS of the other computer (good job Gate...).
