It depends on what you like as games. But for me, as not a big fan of Hack n' Slash games, the first game isn't worth it. Haven't played the second one yet, since the first one isn't completed.

Castle Crashers isn't a Hack N' Slash it is a Beat 'Em Up.

I liked Darksiders, old THQ game, and THQ was great. RIP.

I liked both of them. I played both on PC then on console, then again on PC. In my opinion they're worth the price content wise, but in the end this is up to you to decide after checking up some gameplay videos on Youtube.

Haven't played the 2nd game, but the first one was fun to go through. 5€ is a pretty good deal. I'd say go for it. :3

If you liked the 2000s Prince of Persia games, then especially. Most of the movement and generic mechanics were directly copied from there.
If you like the generic themes and graphical design of the God of War games (a.k.a "what if the 90s really refused to die already?"), then also.
They are not masterpieces by a long shot, but they are fun action hack & slash games. They were also recently updated a bit to look (and hopefully run) better.

This sounds about right. I liked them both a lot but they aren't exactly innovative. One addition: The soundtrack is great.

I really enjoyed playing both Darksiders, essentially for the setting and the story, that evolves around the 4 knights of the apocalypse and the war between the kingdoms of Heaven and Hell. I liked also the art style, based on the drawings from Joe Madureira, a guy that came from comic books. I already liked his art style back when he was drawing stuff like Battlechasers for Wildstorm/Image comics. The fact that he was responsible for the art in Darksiders immediately caught my attention.
Then, gameplay wise, it is an action hack & slash type of game, but with some exploration and puzzles, specially the 2nd Darksiders, much bigger.

I loved them both, the first even more so than the second. The second part has more RPG elements in it (and not so good loot anymore ;P). If you like hack'n'slash games you will love those games. I haven't played a game that came close to my experience with the Darksiders games yet,

Thanks for the tip!

If you really want to boil it down, Darksiders uses the PoP game mechanics, God of War aesthetics and themes, and a late Zelda-like "RPG" system. But if you enjoyed the core mechanics, then the third game of the original PoP remake trilogy should suit you. (You can pretty much classify those three games as musical genres. Sands of Time is the melodic rock prince—and the one female players used to enjoy the most back then—, Warrior Within is heavy metal prince,Two Thrones is death metal prince. And there was an attempt at a soft reboot, the cell-shaded one simply called Prince of Persia, which is the commercial pop-rock prince. =D)

I'm a big fan of games like this. Prince of Pesia, God of War, Ninja Gaiden, Devil May Cry, Dante’s Inferno Etc.
I bought the first Darksiders years ago yet didn't start playing it until a month before Christmas and was really enjoying it. Then during the Winter sale I decided to buy Darksiders 2 for $5.99. So both games for $4.99 seems like a no brainer.

I absolutely loved playing both of these games on console and I think 4.99 for both games and DLC is an amazing price. If you have the money, I'd definitely suggest buying it.

Darksiders II has some optimization problems, at least for me. The game's fun but had to play it at 800*600 to get playable framerate

You get a great story, great combat and a relatively great optimization as for me these games ran smooth. It has a long story that will keep you occupied around 15 hours per game, one that drains you into the main character skin. It is alike games such God of War, Prince of Persia. In the end, you get 2 games+ soundtrack and if I were to do your decision I would go for it.
