Lost a contributor level

Recently, i got a 1+ contributor level, but it disappeared, and now i have 0, does anyone know why? My theory is that the games that i gave away, have no value anymore while they did before, but i still feel like i should keep my contributor level even after that.

Am i correct in my assumption?

Correct also because you gave away games you got yourself for free, which always get added to a list later, so no you shouldn't keep your level. Which you can circumvent by gifting things from bundles or direct steam gifts.
