Edit:
For those who lack even the second game, Dragonfall, and would like to have it for some time, Yirg donated a copy of it in this form:

Shadowrun: Dragonfall: http://www.sgtools.info/giveaways/3085d7f7-3cd7-11e7-9500-fa163ee2f826

And now, back to the original thread:

Since my previous similar attempt went pretty well, let's try this again.

I have two Humble gift links for Shadowrun: Hong Kong – Extended Edition from that whatever bundle that had these. I would like to ensure that these find a home that will appreciate them in their earnest. To do so, I would like to look for people who show that they play these games. The method is simple:

Post me your personal achievements page of the previous game, Shadowrun: Dragonfall. You can find it among your games list or you can just use this link format: http://steamcommunity.com/id/<Your_Steam_ID>/stats/300550/?tab=achievements
Alternatively, you can post your personal AStats page of this game, provided your account is not flagged for suspicious achievement hacking (like mine is ^^').
If you have at least three of the following achievements unlocked before 2017-05-16* (the day before posting this thread) and you don't have any infractions of not activating games or multi-wins this year, I will add you temporarily to my whitelist:

  • Change of Plans
  • Clean Slate
  • Fly Free, Great Wyrm
  • Needs to Cool Off
  • Never Make a Deal With a Dragon
  • Unintended Consequences

*Or you can start playing the game now, but in this case I'll look at all of your achievements to see if they unlocked like in any normal play through or you are just doing stuff while randomly unlocking things in SAM to fake game time.

If anyone wonders, these are the achievements you can get for the six different endings. Thus I am making sure that the player was interested enough in the game to replay it for the other sides of the story.
If you want to ask why only Dragonfall and not Returns as well, there are two reasons. One is that Returns doesn't have an achievement system I can use as a basis. The other is that it really felt more like an attempt to bring back the classic Shadowrun rules to PC, but Dragonfall was more like a properly fleshed-out cRPG with enough content and replay value.

After you are added to the whitelist, you will be able to see two separate giveaways for Hong Kong that both end at the exact same time: 2017-05-27 13:00 UTC. (Next Saturday 9 AM Eastern seaboard time for you Muricans. :))

As soon as both winners have claimed and marked their wins, I will empty my whitelist again. So only participate if you meet the requirements and don't actually have the offered game in question.

I will add the names of those who I added to my list here, in this starting post. If you don't see your name here after 24 hours of posting your application, just write again, I may have skipped over you. I will reply only those who are ineligible because not meeting one of the requirements, to reduce unnecessary posts.

Added so far:

Melusca, outsidespace400, qqqqq, doberman7478, vilantobe, InquisitorDruss

Oh, and one last thing:

Last time others offered additional keys for the participants. In case this happens again, keep an eye on this thread from time to time. I'll add all relevant information to this post.

I can't participate since I already finish both of those games. Got 100% because they are amazing. Have an upvote because giveaways and shadowrun.

Both games are in my pile of (to-be-played) shame, waiting the inspiration of playing bigger RPG games to come . I played Shadowrun Returns on my tablet a few years ago, if they really expanded that system and gameplay world with more content, that's just awesome!

Returns was more like a showcase of the game rules, with a fairly one-track linear story. Dragonfall is a lot more focused on the world's atmosphere, creating a proper multi-branch story, a team with a lot of background and character quests, and relies mostly on actual shadowrun jobs, where you must raise a fuckton of money to unlock the final job.

For some weird reason I really like the world "fuckton" :D

Since I 100%'d Dragonfall I'm very interested in playing Hong Kong (I thought about getting it during sales a few times, but didn't because of an already gigantic backlog).

My achievements page: http://steamcommunity.com/id/Melusca/stats/appid/300550/achievements

Interesting GA idea BTW.

Wow, I beat the game and only have one of these achievements. Well I do have Shadowrun: Hong Kong, but just wanted to see if I had those achievements.

This happens to me all the time. I'm just not able to play game the way they are intended to be played it would seem :P

Edit: That is unless I'm purposely playing the meta achievements game which have been to happen on occasionally. I prefer game without achievements though, less distractions from playing the game because I'm very easily distracted by nonsense like this.

Me too, but this particular giveaway needs some actual tangible proof of interest in the series.

I like the giveaway style :) just surprised I barely have any listed.

Yes of course. It was not intended as a critique of your giveaway but rather a personal reflection on achievements in general and my seemingly unusual play style. In fact I quite like the concept behind these kind of giveaways. I've only played Shadowrun Returns on mobile platform and although it was pretty good imho I'm glad to learn that the successor are improved. All in all this is a interesting giveaway and interesting topic topic to me so thank you for the creation :)

Yeah, I can imagine there are plenty of examples, and even genres, where achievements are implemented in a good way.

I own both of them but have yet to play Hong Kong. Somehow only got the Clean State and Never Make a Deal With a Dragon achievements despite being rather sure i let Feuerschwinge alive on my first finish.

Nice idea for giveaways so have a bump for visibility.

I own Shadowrun Returns (Dead Man's Switch) and Dragonfall on Android, but I only played some of the first. A technical issue due to an update meant that I needed to restart the game, and I never did.

Oh my, I feel like I already have won so many games from you, that I don't actually like to enter more of your giveaways (Thank you again for all of them :-)). and my "happy log" is constantly growing, so I should probably try to play those games I have, than try to win more - but my love for the Shadowrun Series overwhelms my bad conscience, so here are my Dragonfall achievements

http://steamcommunity.com/id/doberman7478/stats/300550/achievements/

PS: Of course I'd understand if you refused me, due to my prior giveaway wins, and in any case thank you for this event.

I don't know what you mean. You only won two games from me. My most frequent customer is at 10. You are not even among my most frequent top 100 winners. :)

For me it still feels "strange" to win even two games from the same person - but given the huge number of giveaways you make, it is supposed to happen.

In any case thanks for the chances. :-)

The Shadowrun games are such wonderful works of art, that everyone should play them. I'm not entering this, because I already own all the games, but I want to give your thread a good bump so that hopefully someone deserving spots it.

I won Dragonfall from you and did not play it (yet). Can I give back a key of this game for this thread? If so, just let me know what rules would you like to use.

Uh… I have no idea how can I implement a giveaway rule for a game in a thread where I ask people to show proof that they already played it…

What I have in mind is more of a complementary GA with a related theme (after all, this is another Shadowrun game). For example, create a wishlist-based GA for anyone who played one of the other games in this franchise and have Dragonfall wishlisted.

Permalink

It may work maybe just as an SGTools one with a wishlisted restriction, put up in the starting post for those who missed the original opportunity but can still at least enter something.

Ok, here's the GA:

http://www.sgtools.info/giveaways/3085d7f7-3cd7-11e7-9500-fa163ee2f826

Requirements to enter:

  • Have the game wishlisted prior to this thread
  • Have up to 500 games wishlisted
  • Have no unactivated wins

This GA ends on 2017-05-27 13:00 UTC, same as the SR:HK GAs.

And this is why it takes me months to try these new ways of distributing keys: when it takes more than three clicks to get something, this community of ONE MILLION people is especially passive. :)

I'm in the odd place of enjoying the process of finding new ways to distribute keys, as well as trying these ways out. I have no issue that it takes longer. At least the keys (typically) reach an actual user and not a thankless ninja.
