Yeah I've had similar tickets in where their response had nothing to do with my question. Tbh I'm surprised you got a response within a month...I think my ticket is going on 2 months with no response...

Assuming there's no other factors involved, it's worth noting that if he was gifting you the entire bundle, he can mark 'it's a gift' during checkout, and it'll region-set to your region once you receive the entire bundle.
Should avoid this in the future.

And no, they rather infamously don't read support requests. I've yet to find anyone that hasn't gotten a nonsensical response from them- even just personally, all of my requests received just completely batty replies.

Yeah, German censorship and how it affects video games, is pretty aggravating :X

Isn't the first response automated?

the first? From my experience all, at least their employees just choose some pre designed text-blocks after a 2 second overview of your questions/replies etc.
The best answer I got so far after a long ping pong something like "We are just support and can you only answer questions related to steam" and my question was about validity of wallet-cards, something only valve could answer me....no store, no reseller.

pffffahahahahaha

...lol

I hate that kind of answers... have you tried asking them if they "just randomly write and answer"?

I don't understand what is wrong there? They answered you about removing games from your account. And they say that will not give you any new game as replacements. If you agree to remove them, you lose the games and have to buy new ones.

They are not gonna just remove the region lock.

What's wrong here is that the Steam support bot confuses "Remove region restriction from a game" with "Remove a game from library", and answers with a standard boiler-plate text that doesn't answer the original question.

To be honest it's not entirely unrelated.
Wrong answer to your question sure, but I can see where they went with it.
(Key words: unregister games etc in your question. Pasting a standard-response to that part of the question without reading the rest).

Generally feels like Valve structurally hires less support-people than is needed for the amount of tickets they need to process.
Result is support-staff that tries to get through them fast by skimming instead of thoughtfull reading. (and due to the amounts it still takes months. So combined: monthlong waits for bad answers)

Since you bought a key from a retailer, i think you can't ask steam support for this, just ask humble bundle support. that's better !

Btw, you offer seem unreasonable in many ways !

I wrote to HB support first ofc... They send me to steam, because they can't give me ROW keys when friend of mine bought them from germany because of germany IP...

it's probably Humble Bundle policy, try to use it to convince them, because steam are just the biggest retailer anyway !

at least, they have nice support... When you wrote to hem in work time, you'll get answer right away... I was "chatting" with one from theyr support for about hour when I got problem... longest delay between answers was 10 minutes... and it was from my side... so this is good thing i must say about HB

I once had a discussion with Steam "support" about estimated download time being broken.

First time you install Steam, you get asked for how fast your connection is, and you can change that as you wish. At the time, I had low-speed DSL. Years pass, I go up in speed, but in the meantime Steam removed the setting from their client (why?!), so I got stuck with an ancient setting, making my estimated download time entirely worthless and useless, unless I wanted to do a bunch of calculations on my own.

I politely asked where the setting is stored, since reinstalling Steam (which is what they told me to do) didn't help. I got a second reply to reinstall Steam, then a third (!!!), all of them the same; I once again politely asked for someone to read what I wrote and perhaps escalate that to an engineer on the Client team, as they're sure to know where that stuff is stored and in what format, since I couldn't figure it out on my own.

Eventually in the fourth reply (three previous ones were all "delete this folder and reinstall Steam"), the guy in Steam "support" flat-out insulted me. When I called him up on that, he edited the previous reply to remove any traces of his insult, though I still have the initial ticket notification email somewhere...

Steam "support" is the worst. It's pathetic. If they weren't the first to do wide-scale digital downloads and started like this today, they'd be out of business.

i live in germany and i hate f-cking censoreship in here, they censore 18+ games so hard, you could sell them for 12+ a great example is Left 4 Dead 2, i saw englsih gameplay before i bought the game and iwas like: holy shit, that's alot of blood but when i buy the game in germany it's a low violence version and there is like no blood... and the corpses are removing directly, that's in every good game here... f-ck you german system, i really hate your censoreship, i'll move to austria then! or switzerland haha

They don't read most of them. I got an automatic reply to a very complex problem with achievement stats a while back. It's ridiculous.

Contacting Steam support is traumatic at best and most answers are automated, useless and don't answer the question(s).

I got an automated reply after six weeks. Sent an immediate reply stating my problem is still there. An actual person answered and solved my problem within a few more hours.

To be fair, your last sentence is kinda in broken English, I can see where they got it wrong. If only they wouldnt be so slow to respond then misinderstandings like these wouldnt add several weeks to the issue's resolve time
