those rules look like last years rules when you did pick a faction - my guess this year is you pick the game you want to idle to get the hours above the threshold - they don't care which one on the list this time

binary domain is shown because that is what you are working towards - the games to be idled are any of the featured games - which are shown as pretty large fonts and images on the site :P !

What happens to the DLC in a bundle if I don't have the base game?

Unfortunately so. Its the way steam works, you can't activate DLC unless you have the basegame. Since they are not giving out keys, and I understand why, and automatically activating it on your steam account I don't think there is a way round it for SEGA. You will get a free game today though.

No, it can be disabled and so has been done for DLCs because how DLC in that game works. If it wasn't, you couldn't even get game, because it's single package.

Some time ago they was giving 2 DLCs for Endless Space 2, which I don't own yet, but I can see them in my licenses page. DLCs are "Endless Space 2 - Uthassum Rhamoezz Sophon Hero" and "Endless Space 2 - Community Challenge Add-on".
I've heard some time ago that Steam API let you activate DLC for game you don't own.

When registering it's required to allow SEGA access to cd-key activation on steam account. That way they directly add the items into library, or inventory (coupons).

Yes, you can play any game of the list and it will count for the total hours.
For people curious about how this was achieved here is a table of last 24 stats.

Ofcouse that's a posibility but, the point was that we need at least a total number of players of 20834 to sum up to 500000 hours if each one plas for 24h. The average total time played per user has been 22.23 hours so almost everyone is "playing" because of the event.

Kind of makes me think that the result was "scripted" as in they added some extra hours to make it pass the required. Maybe even by adding some extra minutes for each hour played so 1 steam hour would count like 1 hour and a few minutes for the event.

I don't think so, maybe they increased the total hours of the first day in order to not discourage people but they get no real benefit from making up the numbers.

You took that data from http://store.steampowered.com/stats/ it shows the peak, not total players. Peak means the maximum amount of players simultaneously. When someone logs out and another one logs in, it remains 1. So not everyone idled for 24h. 😉

Yes I got the MWNL5 Day 1 license but I only received the DOW 2 dlc coupon(already have this dlc as well) since I already have the other game and dlc.
