If you sign up you get 2 sega arcade games for free. If you want the fancier stuff everyone has to play enough of the featured games so that there's a total of 500000 hours. No idea how that's possible in 24 hours, so I think its a bit of a scam, but if you want to try to help you can idle or play a bit of CoH2

Hn. Approximately 20 hours to attain 500000 hours altogether. That does not inspire a lot of confidence in reaching the next goals heading towards above 700k or so. What can we do about that?

Running more than one game may count as additional hours but the majority of people probably only have COH2. If they raise the goal moving forward then we may need more people, though this being the first day I wonder how many hours were 'lost' due to folks not learning about it or getting into the act until later. Anyway, what can be done? I would think spread the word to increase the ranks....

besides COH 2 costs 35 cents on DIG, I'll probably get it for day 2 (if featured games don't change).

Took a bit but I got ASF to idle COH2.
I set it up in the past just letting it mostly do the defaults and picking its own stuff to do. Had it running last night and it finished everything I had left. Then figured I might be able to used it to help out with this event. There is some good info a couple pages back but I was unaware of that until after I figured it out.
The commands are given on the command wiki page but it was not clear to me how they worked or where or even how to setup the bot to listen to them. With a bit of digging the trick was 3 things.
Your SteamID64
Make your own private group
the groupID64
You need to set "SteamUserPermissions" in the config. You need to put YOUR SteamID64 in as the value with it set as master. You can get this ID by looking at your profile and its the long number as part of your URL. Enhanced Steam also shows it.
It looks like this including the " marks. The 3 is the master permission.

If you like me with just one account and just your bot that runs on your main account you need a group to talk to it. You need to create one. You also need the GroupID64 as well. I'm sure there is an easy way but I looked at the source code for the page to get mine.

Now when ASF is running you can go into the private group you created and the Bot will respond to commands in the group chat. You will know its working if

makes the bot respond to you. I can't see the bot in there. I only see me but it does respond to me with a report. Now use

My bot says Done and does not seem to be doing anything. But if I look at my playtime its now going up.
You can substitute that number for a different game if you have one of the others and not COH2.
Note.
both the ID numbers are in the source code for the group page since you created it and your the admin.
search for
input type="hidden" name="groupId" value=
to get the groupID. Your SteamID64 is the number in the URL a couple lines above the group number.
I can now leave my bot running and talk to it from work via the browser chat if I want to issue commands. I've been wanting to figure this out for awhile as this also will let me invite family to the group so they can pause the bot to play my lib once I set them up with the proper permissions.
Hopefully this helps someone if they are missing a piece of the puzzle like I was to make it all work.

Now with ASF config being within the browser, it makes it a little uncofortable edit or changing something, since you have to start again with the settings. Luckily, the JSON files can be edited with Notepad++.

Yes, Thats what I did. Used the web to create a test json with my new entry so I knew what it should look like and then moved that into the config file with notepad++. That way I did not have to remember what everything was from scratch.

ASF now includes a web based command GUI, so no need for your own group. Or you can just set the config up to idle this as a custom game.

I see no mention of web based commands. Only config. Can you give me a l ink? Yes I see that you can do a default idle. And that would work for this case but I wanted to be able to send it commands remotely so I wanted to set it up fully.

Given how Steam works, presumably they'll just update the package we all added to our accounts by registering for the event. The event is telling me it has an hour left for today's timer, and that rewards take up to 24 hours to process after each day. So a bit of a wait won't be anything to have concern over.

That's what the FAQ states, and it'd match to previous MWNLs in that regard. On the other hand, it wouldn't be the first time SEGA has bungled an aspect of a MWNL. Still, comments on the next few pages seem to indicate it to be the case.

It doesn't matter which of the games you play, so long as it's one of the ones listed.
The games have to be played for each day of the event, as each day has its own separate goal to reach.

Oh got it. I was just interested in Dawn of War III, I thought we will get that. For rest of the game I don't own the base so it's a waste for me.

I believe any of them - whichever you own and want to play of the featured games I think - as all the hours seemed to be aggregated into one pot from the looks of it. Seems a bit dumbed down from last year, but I think they may have had to do that to get permission from Valve to auto load games and coupons into steam - who knows :P even I admit it is a little lacking in info if you don't know what is happening and have done it before
