I appear to be a couple dozen games less since retiring to bed last night this morning. I got no warning message anywhere. No clue what was removed. My friend also reports to same problem and handed me a list of games supposedly being culled by Valve from accounts permanently. More likely many Greenlit games, banned publishers, free games at stake? How does removing it from accounts help?
https://pastebin.com/TKtECBv5
Can someone verify whats happening?

So the big question. if not in steam API and not inactivated list are won games now counted un-activated?
Edit: My another friend reports 80 games lost since last night.

Should store banned games be deleted form owner accounts also?

Jesus, it's like the end of times while nobody reads anything.
They are not removed. There were no message because they are still in the library, accessible and playeable. So no money lost, nobody died, the world won't crash on itself and no crabpeople attack will happen.

I also have this issue. Yesterday I had 444 games, and this morning I added two games, and boom, still 444.
Another member of SG, CBlade, "could swear [he] was just 14 games away from 1000 and now [he's] at 964 games".

No idea either.

They are also not eligible for booster packs anymore.

My guess is that those countless bot accounts filled with garbage games still generate money by collecting boosters, crafting the banned game badges during the Summer sale and then selling the Summer card. All those pennies probably add up and Valve is trying to completely cut off their way of generating money through cards. It looks like the boosters can still be created with gems but that wouldn't be profitable for anyone so they will probably leave it.

I also wonder... Can we still drop cards from these banned games? I mean... I am sure I had a lot of Digital Homicide titles on my other Steam acc (all of their games have been removed from Steam store in the past + their trading cards got banned from the market) but I recently checked badge page and I couldn't find these games there... And no cards dropped for them before. I also remember almost every (or maybe every) DH game had cards...

I checked mine and I still have drops remaining for the removed games. Launched a game and let it idle a few minutes, received a card so it seems you can still get them, at least for the time being.

You cant sell them though

But devs don't see any money from Summer sale cards in the first place.

The 'devs' aka Digital Homicide have thousands of bot accounts with their shitty games on it, they could have easily sold Summer cards created from booster packs from removed games, bought TF2/CSGO keys and then sold them on OPSkins for real money.

have thousands of bot accounts

That's unproven. Every account requires $5 activation fee. It would take ages to get enough boosters to make that back.

Older accounts created prior to the implementation of 'limited' accounts were grandfathered in, I know because I have a couple of them that I toss crappy game keys on such as DH games. Even being level 10 which you could have gotten for ~$1 still generate booster packs, enough to break even after getting a couple months times however many accounts they have. I'm not saying that is the sole reason for this API change but it could be a factor.

Older accounts grandfathered in

Many were not, needed some significant game ownership.

break even after getting a couple months

Not even remotely. Drop rate is around 1 booster pack every 2nd week per 100 games. And you need at least 2 for one badge. Even DH with their 20 titles would get a whole lot of 2.5 badges per year per acc, which makes a whopping 15 cents.
How many decades are that to get the initial $5 back?

could be a factor.

It isn't. The amount of work required to set that all up in big numbers alone, and we all know how lazy the DH&co asset flipper ilk are.

How did I lose 35 games in a few hours if no game deleted? I slumped from 1892 to 1857. My brother slumped from 500 to 465 What explains this huge anomaly?

I didn't checked but looks like they are not counting +1 anymore. You can still install and play them. Like free to play games.

Yeah from what i gather you still have and own the games they are just no longer counted towards your total games.

Another friend reports being less 80 games. Worst is you wont get cards on legal keys unused now that means? While that no clear idea is there certainly you cant get boosters of 'deleted' games?

Digital Homicide bundles were sold by steam last sale or before and many people bought it. Why should it stop counting as a +1?

yea i was at 3090 something games about to hit 3100 and now at 3078 as far as i know i only had a couple free to play games but i guess i could have had a couple more then i thought or some payed games that went free to play.

Game collecting and card farming is destroying the trading community and helped fill steam with shovelware crap. I hope valve gets rid of all the garbage for good.

My brother had bought the cheap digital homicide bundle from steam store last summer sale. So people did pay for some of those games not being counted anymore.

Remember there are two different counters on games, one on your profile and one on your games list.
Free games, demos, etc don't show up as a number on your profile, but they do on the games list, so maybe some games just have changed status on Steam?

Then there's the way Steam counts games, if you count your game list it will in most cases not correspond to the number Steam gives you, as Steam does not actually calculate how many games you have but how many licensed keys you have redeemed/bought, and some of these licenses cover more than one game. Again, perhaps license changes have affected your numbers?
