I used to play fighting games all the time on console as well as in the arcade and I was pretty decent at them. Recently I've gotten into the genre again and ended up acquiring a few titles: Mortal Kombat Complete Kollection, Mortal Kombat XL, Ultra Street Fighter IV, Street Fighter V, and Injustice: Gods Among Us. My skills are definitely lacking and I need a lot more practice.

No one is online to play for MK 9, Ultra Street Fighter IV or Injustice so I mainly play SFV and MKXL online. I'm no where near good but Street Fighter V I will say I am definitely getting better at.

Out of the fighting games you own on Steam what's your favorite? If it's not listed feel free to post a comment stating which is.

Is there any titles not in the poll you highly recommend?

What do you use to play: Controller, Fight Stick, or Keyboard and Mouse? If you use a Fight Stick which do you recommend?

Street Fighter V! Their communication has been terrible and their fight money system is broken, but its still the most fun to play for me. I get matches quickly and most of them are fine connection-wise besides the occasional laggy match. I suck (I'm bronze) but its still fun!

I use a Hori Real Arcade Pro N fight stick. I like the button responsiveness (some ppl think its too responsive but I love it) and the stick itself is solid without being too heavy. The cheapest version is probably the Soul Calibur VI version for PS4 since I guess they overproduced it. Its gone down below $100 on Amazon US and the price seems to fluctuate so I would keep an eye out on it.

I think Street Fighter V is a great game. Characters/moves, stages, features/modes I think are all done well. I just started playing so I'm not that familiar with the devs communication level with the community. That's unfortunate though if they don't talk to us. I'm not really sure what's wrong with the fight money system. If you want to take a moment and explain it that would be great.
I know they just put ads in the game, but tbh they don't bother me at all.

As far as matchmaking goes it's pretty quick and 95% of the time it's with little latency. I suck also I'm probably a lot worse than you. lol

Nice! Glad you like it! :) As far as communication this season they haven't told us how many characters there are going to be or even given hints about any new major content such as stages. The three previous seasons they told us there would be 6 characters and gave us an outline so its just raising worries that this game is on its last legs. Hope this isn't the case!

As far as the fight money they've just reduced the ways to earn fight money to such an extent that some people are having trouble having enough with the weekly extra battles. Trying for the fighting chance colors and costumes drain a lot of FM. Last year you could at least earn enough every week for the extra battle but now you can't. I'm fortunate in that I bought all the season passes and characters so I have enough FM to play the weekly battles and participate in the extra stuff.

Yeah the ads could be turned off, that wasn't a major deal for me either. And I agree, online is actually really fun! :)

It's not impossible. I play Street Fighter V and Tekken 7 using keyboard sometimes although my main peripheral for fighting games is a controller. The 360 degree movement and the half-circles do take some getting used to but it can be done. You can do DPs and hadouken movements without any problem. Tekken 7 is a lot easier at least for me as most moves are limb-based and just combination of buttons.
I also played Tekken 3 and the old SF Alpha games using Bleem! back then using a keyboard.

Tekken 7 and USFIV, are my absolute favorites on this list, i mostly play on arcade stick.

if you are going for a stick, please dont go for a cheap one, a good one will last for a very long time, check Qanba Obsidian or the Razer Panthera, the absolute best sticks you could ever get in a long time

edit : if you are going to invest on a stick , be warned the that some Fighting Games are terrible to use, like MKX , wich it had its own stick build layout

I have <3 for Skullgirls. I had a list of around 30 games to add to the poll, Skullgirls was one of those. Unfortunately polls only have 20 slots.

The King of Fighters is the ultimate fighting game. No other comes close in terms of skill ceiling. I played a lot of it on the arcades (actually it was just one arcade machine in a bar I used to go) and on ps2. Too bad the franchise is dead and snk is doing shit to revitalize it. And the ones on steam are not that good.

I recently got back into fighting games as well, Injustice 2 and SFV are my current favorites.

Planning to get Tekken 7 and/or Soulcalibur VI along with a fight stick in the near future.

i like fighting games when long time ago there is no hits\combos and no fighters selled apart separated price , i think the time of mortal kombat 2 and virtua fighters the first tekken etc..... Then sadly Killer Instinct and other videogames appears in the videogames world and then all others fighting games tekken, mortal kombat etc. start to use combos\hits then i start stop like this games genre.
And some of my friend tell me "So what is the problem? just not do combo\hits and play only with 1 hit move is ok" , is not the same... because videogames fighting of today is calibrated and maked since the start for hits combos so they are so much fast and less tactic etc. and also is really impossible not balanced to play no hits vs who do hits always who use hit win etc.
BTW i will plan to buy MK11 because i born with mortal kombat game.
edit:
i forget to say that i not like today SPEED of fighting games, they are so much fast for me,i like the old games they are very slow, not about "FPS" but about how to play.

Recently gotten the KoF XIII from a grab bag. Not to sure whether if I want KoF or MK X since I'm not a huge fan of the old school arcade style.
However I got to admit that the old school arcade style is still the best. The gore from MK X is tempting me thou..

I am really terrible at fighting games, so I avoid them. The Street Fighter kind of fighting games. None of this 1v1 or 3v3.

I'm kind of casual, so FighterZ, Xenoverse 2 and Naruto are my picks. Although MK X is better to play with my friends, since no one between us knows how to play it properly.

Jump Force made it's way on to Steam yesterday and currently it's sitting with "Mixed" reviews.

If any of you have purchased the game what are your thoughts so far on it?

On Steam, Skullgirls.
Marvel vs Capcom 2 will always be the goat though. I own a Qanba Q1 but I haven't bought a new one since, probably due to the fact that I'm absolutely horrible at fighting games.

JUMP FORCE is horrendous, so don't get that one.

You could always go for TEKKEN, but note how the beloved Team Battle Mode isn't included in TEKKEN 7.

What was it that you didn't like about playing Jump Force?

Well there's many issues to me actually.

First off, it's not a classic beat 'em up like TEKKEN or MK are. It's an arena fighter. This might not be a negative to you, so I named that one first.

Graphics are okay, but animations are done VERY poorly, controls are finicky and the loading times are way too long, even on an SSD.

The roster isn't anywhere near complete as you need to spend an extra of 30 bucks to get 9 (NINE!!) remaining characters.

Also, you will have no access on the ""complete" roster until you have played a fair bit through the "story" mode. I am writing this in quoation marks as it's an extremely poor story mode.

There is no main menu, only a hub which requires you to run to every option you desire at a very slow pace.

And I guess what annoys me the most is the fact that controls are non-configurable.

I haven't played a lot of arena style fighting games. It was a big fighting game that was coming in 2 days at the time of creation so I thought it deserved a spot in the poll.

I saw some of those things you listed in some of the reviews on the steam store. It definitely sounds round. I haven't had any time yet to check it out live so I'm going to probably head over to twitch soon to check it out. I want to see exactly how bad the animations are..smh

That's the best idea you could have. Watch some gameplay; especially in-depth gameplay, and decide for yourself. To me, however, it was a major let-down.

Did you end up getting a refund or are you keeping it with hopes they improve it?

It's Bandai Namco so my hopes that they will eventually improve it is very low. Anyhow, I do not like to bother Valve with doing refunds and since I am a game collector, I am keeping it anyways. I know this sounds redundant, but it's just who I am I guess.

The poll is limited to 20 options so there's a decent amount of others I would of liked to add to the list if I could HAVE.

And yet, you used up a slot on a game that's not out yet.

Sure did. I can't add it to the poll later and MK11 is available for pre-order. The thread isn't shutting down any time soon and the launch isn't far off so I definitely wanted it included. It's one of the biggest fighting games coming this year.

I haven't heard of this title before. It looks kool from the trailer on the store. I'll probably check out some gameplay videos of it later on and see if it's something I'd be interested in. Thanks for posting.

It's based on an anime very popular in France, Italy, Spain, China, Mexico, Brazil and Latin America in general. It wasn't a success in US, though.
