And Indie Royale again has a bunch of games I have absolutely zero interest in. It's almost impressive at this point.

Edit: Not necessarily saying they're bad, I just have had no interest in a single Indie Royale bundle...

Some are pretty decent but I can't remember the last time I actually bought one. The one with all the Arcen games was pretty good but I already had most of them... This one is pretty meh though.

Indeed. I've never seen a game they offer that I'm interested in :(

quote from the ToME homepage : Tales of Maj’Eyal (ToME) is a free, open source roguelike RPG, featuring tactical turn-based combat and advanced character building.

From what I've found on Reddit, you do get donor perks when buying the bundle (not sure what that entails exactly, extra character classes maybe?).

Custom Tiles
Exploration Mode(unlimited lives)
Stone Warden class(dual wield shields)
Items Vault(store 1? item to move it between chars)

So the base game is free but you still get the DLC... fair enough.

You also get a Desura copy and presumably a Steam copy if it is Greenlit (for those that do not want drm-free).

LogiGun's the only one that looks interesting to me (2D Portal-ish gameplay, looks like). Unfortunately, the lacklusterousness of the rest of the lineup means I'll be skipping this bundle.

Even the album doesn't seem as good as past offerings. If the image is the correct album, it's only 1 15-minute song and 2 remixes of the same song. An electro-pop version of "The Raven" by Edgar Allen Poe. Skimming through the song, I find it's essentially a single 7-second melody repeated ad nauseam.

I say 'Come back once on Steam' to all Greenlight bundles. Meh.

1 decade ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

And I say come back with 5 times the money or more, or wait for a year or so for them to be bundled after release.

Don't expect new games, on Steam, to be dropped in your lap for pennies. Just because it happens on occasion doesn't mean that's a good or healthy practice. It's often a sign of desperation for a developer.

Didn't write 'Come back right after release on Steam', did I?

Greenlight as it is turned out to be pain in the ass rather than something helpful for everyone, both users and developers as it seems, and games there are barely getting on Steam. How many indie games from 'Greenlight' bundles made it (even an art style indicates that the selling point is possibility of getting on Steam)? So why should I bother?

Oh I thought the other one was still going.. I refreshed the page and now the one with Sniper Elite 2 is gone. ;_;

Unlike everyone else, I think the best Indie Royale bundles have been these debut bundles. In fact, these have been pretty much the only IR bundles I've bought in the last 4 months or so.

Do the games usually get greenlit?

1 decade ago

Comment has been collapsed.

Let's see. So far already closed IR's debut and Groupee's BAG bundles included 38 games (+1 demo). As far as I remember first debut bundle wasn't concentrated on Greenlight (maybe it was, correct me if I'm wrong) opposite to two next, this leaves 30 titles in IR debut 2 and BAGs. Out of them two were greenlit: La-mulana (already released) and Cognition.

And I mentioned just bundles focused on Greenlight, not ones like i.e. Build a Bundle 4 where all non-Steam games tried to encourage you to buy them telling you will get free Steam key once they are greenlit.

The weird thing about La-Mulana was that it wasn't even part of the original bundle; it was a bonus game.

(Easily worth more than everything else in the bundle combined, though.)

If you are gambling on Steam releases for these games, you will lose. I judge the games based on my interest, not how much of a chance they have to get on Steam.

Yes, I agree. It's just if it's not greenlit, I never get to play it because I forget about it. lol

Nope, you're gonna have a bad time gambling for greenlight

  • Wooden Sen'SeY
  • Eryi's Action

  • Oozi: Earth Adventure
  • La-Mulana (Greenlighted! + Key)
  • Underrail
  • Fester Mudd: Curse of the Gold
  • Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards: VGA Version (Greenlighted* Something weird happened here, even though it got greenlit, the game advertised was not exactly the same game, I don't think steam keys were issued, kinda shady if you ask me)

2*/13 Greenlight

BAGB2

  • Darkout
  • Grimind
  • Ichi
  • Gravi
  • Little Racers STREET
  • Enamel
  • Crow
  • Draconian Wars
  • Death Ray Manta
  • Reversion - The Escape
  • Reversion - The Meeting
  • Ensign-1
  • HyperSonic 4

0/13, Also Death Ray Manta decided to quit the Greenlight process, so technically 0/12

To be fair, it's still definitely possible that many of these games get greenlit. More importantly Buy the bundle to try out the games, don't buy it expecting steam keys.

Give a chance to Rawbots (in the Groupees bundle), it's actually pretty good.

Rawbots is definitely a gem in there. I got that back when they were giving it away for free and kinda wished I would have paid them something for it because it turned out to be pretty fun.

Also Rooks Keep looked neat, but I haven't had a chance to play it.
