Brainfooder

Hiho guys,

as you can already tell from the title I build a small curator group. Nothing professional or with a big budget. But I love brain teasers and a good puzzle and with some of the other curator groups I found it sometimes hard to scroll through their immense list of EVERY puzzle game under the sun (in some instances it feels like I looking at a slightly different version of the store).

This is no recruitment or anything else in that vein (as I can already feel MSKOTORs cold eyes staring at me from the shadows), but I thought you maybe like to know this.

I try my best to get my opinion out on some high quality games or rate some, in my eyes, overhyped games while on the same page, keeping it very condensed.

Since there is ofcourse a power scaling in the world, here you get a LLT (lootboy leftover train) to compensate you for the time you read all this nonsense. I hope all keys work fine, but since its loot boy... you know. So if the keys do not work I would appreciate it if we can just delete the GA ;)

Without further ado:

Here the start of the train

To the juice

And here if you want to take a peak at the group or even follow (non of them are required for the train, so dont force yourself my dear bots)

And if you have any recommendations, feedback or even wishes/improvements I am all ear to hear about those :D

If I still did something wrong, please dont hurt me senpai Q.Q it was not on purpose

Its only fair ;)
But currently there are only 2 games on there that will most likely make it to the curator page when I get to it (Mosaic of the Pharao and Locator).

Joined the curator and applied for the group. These types of games that combine narrative, mystery and logic are right up my alley! Animal Well, Blue Prince & The Rise of the Golden Idol are all high up on my wishlist. Glad to see you giving them your hearty endorsement.

I'll have to review your other recommendations more closely later. The Zero Escape / Danganronpa series in particular is a huge blind spot for me. I know it exists, but never paid close attention to it.

Zero escape and danganronpa can get a little bit silly but in terms of story its very high up there if you can suspend your disbelieves enough.
Cannot wait for the recommendations :)

Joined the curator and applied to the group.

I'm a big fan of difficult puzzle games, ideally without hidden content, something like Patrick's Parabox. Unfortunately there's not a lot of others I also played and liked Baba is You and Talos Principle, but didn't complete either of them because I don't have the patience to look for hidden content.

I had Patrick's Parabox on my radar but it was sometimes too much Sokoban as anything else. But hell, since I put Isles of Sea and Sky on it, it would be a waste to not include it. Thanks for changing my mind!

Since Steam doesn’t allow me to see all the reviews (due to regional restrictions or settings), I’m not sure whether you’ve already played and reviewed it… but my recommendation is Cocoon! It might not be a HUGE brain teaser at first, but in the late game, it becomes more challenging, I would say that it was more challenging to me than average puzzle game.

For sure Cocoon is a great game. I played it and loved the art style. However the biggest downside that I had with the game, is that most the game times comes from walking the distances. You are completely right, that at the end it offers a fair challenge, but at that moment it felt "annoying" for a lack of better words, to input or setup the solutions I already had in my mind. So I op'ed out in the past to give it a review as I would feel it would not bring it justice (just like some other Anna Purna games). I will think about how to write a fair review. Thanks for the input :)

I liked Cocoon much and had not felt "annoyed", maybe it was because of its aestetics, maybe because it was a relatively short game not to become annoyed... but after reading what you wrote about it, I can say that I relate to that, a lot of walking to check wheter the solution I had in mind will click..

Other than the Cocoon, i heard a lot of good words about Tunic and its environmental puzzles, but I still have to play it to judge..

PS. have to clear curator list to sub, but i will def do that later on :)

Probably best you check the site rules:

  • You're not allowed to advertise your curator. And for a group I have provided the guidelines as well.

Advertising
Advertising is when you are promoting products or services you are associated with, or when you are posting content that is paid or sponsored. Directly naming or linking to an associated product or service will always be viewed as advertising. General references (e.g. referring to your "website", "YouTube channel", or "Steam group") may also be viewed as advertising when we believe their purpose is to bring attention to an associated product or service for publicity or sales. Below is a breakdown of when advertising is allowed in our community. Remember, the above rules regarding user content still apply. For example, we might allow you to advertise in giveaway descriptions, but that does not permit you to post referral links or link to your website with illegal content.
Group Recruitment
In this category you are allowed to promote your Steam group, corresponding group giveaways and events, and relevant products or services (e.g. a website with group information or statistics). One of the PRIMARY aspects of your group needs to be SteamGifts or gifting using our platform.

Thats why I did not put it in group recruitements, as I dont want people to feel forced to join just for some chances to giveaway and since I saw that there were also other curator topics in "User projects".
And its also not advertisment in the guideline sense, since I dont make money or anything else with it.

At least I hope my logic is right. I would be glad if a staff member could verify if this is ok or not, since I just see it as a fun project

Circumventing rules by putting your discussion under an incorrect category doesn't really change the facts.

You are right, but this is not circumventing, in my opinion, because I am not here to farm group members or followers for anything. Just want to spread the love for riddle games.

But I completely understand your points and hope one of the higher ups could clarify if I did an upsi or not.

Quite a few on my wishlist is already in the curator list, so followed and applied :D

Sheesh, I nearly forgot to check out the train after peeking at the curator list. The shiny distraction link has got to be on purpose ain't it

As a small contribution, I'd recommend the Professor Layton series. While they're not on Steam, they're excellent for some mental exercise. 'Professor Layton and the New World' is slated for release on Switch (and likely Switch 2), and Layton even has a crossover with Phoenix Wright!

Hand on my heart, if Layton hit steam they would be so fast on this list you would not believe it. Perfect sized puzzles/riddles and brain teasers for a handheld. And the newer installments only get better and better (with some characters dropping in likabliity, but you cannot always hit it off with everyone).

Ooh, I too like your list of reviews. A mix of things in my backlog, things wishlisted, and enticing things. I'll check out the train. Thanks for the giveaways.

My understanding is mods are okay with group recruiting in your giveaway, but not in your top post. Just what I seem to see anyway.

Mayanaise also said that, but I am a bit confused if that is really the case as just at this moment there is another curator thread 2 threads below, about a free game curator and that one is already going strong for 3 years without issues. For that reason I took that as a reference. If that was wrong, I will close this thread super fast.

Fair. Mods are usually pretty on top of that stuff.

Maybe if it's not the main part of the thing, and just kind of a mention and stuff. Dunno. Probably says in the always useful FAQ.

I love puzzle/logic games so up to join.
I recommend trying these 2 free games:

TEST TEST TEST
played this one and thought it did a really good job in its short play time

Slider
Played the demo and thought it was super well done. Just haven't gotten to the full game.

Dear Sir Serebix, I'd be quite interested in puzzle games and everything that challenges my brain but it seems like I have been a bad deer at some point because I am on your blacklist. Thank you anyway and have a nice weekend :), best Regards Sir Myr the 13th.

My dear Dear, ahm MyrXIII. I guess the past me put you on the naughty list for the 2:1 win/give ratio and the fact that most of the GAs are in a very small steam group.
However after such an elaborate post I will do a small little spring cleaning. But I cannot promise that my future self will not come to the same conclusion again at one point. Sorry for the inconvenience

Dear Sir Serebix, I respect people sticking to their own rules and principles, anyway thank you for the spring cleaning. You have some amazing titles in your train but I won't enter any of your giveaways as I own some (on other platforms than steam) and only enter games I can imagine playing at some point (I'm not a collector). With all these monthly contribution groups my focus has shifted a bit. As you mentioned I should do some more public again. I wish you a pleasent day! Best Regards, Sir Myr the 13th.

Seems a cool group. I play more trivial sort of puzzles and stick away from the really intense ones you seem to like. However, there are some wishlisted games and if I need help I now know where to turn. Requested to join, and followed :)
