I see Humble Bundle monthly now accepts paypal and you can pay once off every month.

I much prefer this then having to subscribe to something. I seriously don't like having my credit card details lying all over the place. Also now I can choose at will as to whether I want to pick up the bundle or not based on what feedback and clues are coming out before the bundle goes live.

YAY for changing payment options!

Do any clues ever come out beforehand?

Maybe you need to have a credit card or debit card linked to your paypal?

You can connect your bank account directly to paypal. No cards needed.

Sorry, didn't realize what you wanted.
As for cc and bank details being the same, the one major reason I prefer to use bank details is what I don't need to worry about updating my credit card details, if it ever gets cancelled or expired. Plus, I don't know but there might be additional charges associated with using cc as well. You might have to check. I don't use Paypal enough to be able to say for sure.

I have my paypal connected to my bank accound but it still asks me to connect a credit card.
I know you said this over a year ago but maybe you still know something about this? :(

I'm pretty sure paypal asked me to verify my account linking a credit card to it some time ago. That's what probably Rpbns is talking about, don't be rude to him.
Before I did, they blocked money received and payments on my account. SirFaulty probably has completed the verification process and has the Credit Card linked to paypal only, so he doesn't want to send his data somewhere else.

Anyway, I never linked a bank account to my paypal, maybe you can complete the verification process with that too.

Hope I've been helpful!

I don't know, then, I hope it gets fixed, try contacting Humble support asap! Don't even bother contacting paypal support, they will respond in more than a week or so.
I can just assure you I have only CC linked to paypal and I was able to pay with paypal funds.

And hopefully, good luck!

My experience so far with paypal support has been getting a phone call 2-3 hours after sending my ticket.

I think paypal is the problematic one, here!
Rpbns4ever here, said he received support pretty fast, maybe it's regional.
I think... Try it, you have nothing to lose for it.

Otherwise, start gathering information around you, maybe you can ask a friend to buy the bundle for you, you can send money to them later via paypal or cash. It's 11-12$ (depending on whether you did or not buy the Firaxis T2), I think someone will have it.

It sounds like your account needs to be verified, and you can do that with a cc/debit or banking account, most places are going to this, given the higher risk of stuff being bought with stolen info using paypal with accounts not verified, and so on.

If they are not going to let you use it with just a balance,so again i would assume your not verified, and frankly if i was taking paypal i would not sell to anyone who was not.

They don't accept unlinked account for this part of the site. Neither does groupees, G2A, and a handful of other sites I have tried and can not purchase from using my Paypal, as the type of link required is not availalbe for Chinese bank accounts. I spoke to someone on chat at Groupees about it once. They enabled this "feature" to prefent fraud and chargebacks from Paypal apparently.

You:

But why is that relevant to my case?

You:

I have since unlinked it.

Linked to an account and verified are not the same thing. Mine is verified too. You are using the wrong terms.

If your Paypal works on Groupess and G2A then you do not have the same issue

I mean, "having my credit cards details lying all over the place" and having your credit card details just in Paypal, which is the world's leader for digital payments are two different things, IMO.

Yes, using my balance:

Funding
PayPal Funds
Funding Source:
€11,46 EUR - PayPal Account

I do have my CC details linked with Paypal though. But a friend of mine bought the bundle with PP aswell, and I'm sure he doesnt even own a credit card.

As it is still a subscription kind of deal I'm pretty sure you either have to have your bank account or your CC linked to Paypal, as they require a source of payment more trustworthy/reliable than Paypal funds.

I am in Western Europe as well and have just verified the same thing happens to me: trying to complete the payment prompts me to link a CC.

Let us know how it ends.

My bank account was already connected all along, I couldn't get the payment to complete without the card regardless.

Did you have to set up automatic charges as well?

For whatever reason that process is failing for me, so I can't tell whether that's a requirement or what else.

If you look at the page listing your cards (I can't remember how it's called exactly right now), and you have connected a bank account, click on it and on the following page you should find an option to set up automatic charges.

My understanding is that, if you only have a bank account, Paypal funds can only be added through a bank transfer.

I think with automatic charges, then you can buy stuff without adding paypal funds in advance, as Paypal will charge the bank account - basically the same as with a debit/credit card, but without the extra step.

Since I haven't been able to complete that step, I can't tell for sure that's how it works though.

Another good decision from HB on the presentation of the monthly bundle. This in addition to the "pre-release" of one of the big titles in the next month's bundle makes the monthly much more sensible for the majority of deal hunters, and they still are able to market to and acquire the more casual game buying audience via the subscription method.

I just can't stop wondering why people this day and age just don't create a separate card for internet payments with limited funds?
