Steam API doesn't export the status if the game came from a key activation vs a gift from store. so SG doesn't know. Take it up with Steam support

If you're saying that games purchased off-Steam doesn't increase your account value, I'm almost absolutely sure that's incorrect. As far as I know, discounts don't affect account value either, only if they are added to the bundled/free games list if I recall correctly.

I understand that this barricade is to help stem the tide of spam-whores that would descend upon this site if they were given the slightest chance.
From what I understand it's more a barricade against creating several dozen accounts for increased chance of winning. Excessive spam should be pretty easy to handle, at least from my point of view

A friend of mine is really looking forwards to joining SG. But their account value on the login screen is stuck at $19.99. They've refreshed it numerous times over several weeks after purchasing multiple games (non-bundle & bundle) and has received a few games from me directly that don't seem to affect this number at all. Does anyone know officially how this number is calculated? What games are excluded? The description text it extremely vague.
Is there any way to help the person (remaining un-named for now) get to the $100 w/o basically buying $80 worth of shit in store just to join? Are there any games that aren't full price that are known to increase this amount? I know for a fact that I did not spend anywhere NEAR $50 on games before joining myself.
Any help would be greatly appreciated :)
