Installed Battlefield 3 from Humble Bundle. First time I've ever called a game in that series or Call of Duty. I've never really played any shooters in multiplayer. I enjoy them but I'm pretty terrible. I usually play FPS on easy. The single player BF3 seems okay. Been considering getting Premium while it's on sale at GMG. My concern is if I'm going to totally suck at it and just get my head blown off at respawn points over and over again by a bunch of hardcore 12-year-olds. I have an outrageous backlog of single player games to play, but it would be fun to find something MP to play.

And from fans of the series, do you think the BF3 MP will fizzle once BF4 comes out or are there enough budget gamers out there who will play BF3 for a while still waiting for the cost of 4 to decrease?

There's no way that BF3 will die so easily. Even Bad Company 2 still hasn't died.

I consider installing my BF veitnam disk everyday. Loved that game as much as i loved the original Call of Duty.
some of my favorite memories include being an air-lifted tank then proceeding to get ridiculous snipes. Just thinking about it brings a smile to my face.

First of all, since BF3 appeared in Humble bbundle, i wouldnt be concerned about lack of players. Also, BF4 would be as much improvement as any CoD sequel. And whether you should get Premium? It depends on how much time you are willing to spend in that game. If you are going to play it just once a week you dont need it. But if you are looking to get 100+ hrs in a couple of months, then i would recommend getting premium. It really spices up progression system a adds heck of a lot maps.I hve around 70 hrs in MP and im still only level 31.

Personally I think BF4 will suck up a lot of the BF3 player base. More importantly though, it will suck up loads more of the dedicated servers.

BF3 doesn't quite have the staying power of BF2. Premium has a nice selection of maps, and if you have the cash spare it is well worth grabbing at sale price. If you dont really want to play MP that much, you'd be better off getting a Counter-Strike game as they are cheap and have stood the test of time already.

Unless of course the game practically forces you to buy DLC by making your play experience very tedious, a'la Call of Duty. In which case you should just not play it at all, IMO.

I only own BO 2, but I don't feel that they've made it impossible to play without any DLC. Sure, Revolution ripping a gun off the disc was a bullshit move, but I've gotten lots of hours out of it without paying a cent.

I got the DLCs after 90 hours of Multiplayer because I wanted the fly Maps but i would say - test it first !
