Game Genres we need more of:
Proper FPS games.
No hollywood nonsense!
Something that truly grabs you, tells you a story about one soldier, where you can feel his loss and fear.
MEDPACKS/BANDAGES!
These days it's all about "Oh, I got shot in the head twice, let me just wait behind this crate for 4 seconds..
...3, ..4! Alright, let's run into the mayhem again!"
I would enjoy a new WW1 / WW2 single player game so much.. if it follows the above rules.
Edit: Or a Jagged Alliance 2 remake. Not the one they released some time ago, I mean a proper 1-on-1 remake.
Same maps, characters, story, everything. Full HD remake in the style of new 3D rendering engines + The unofficial community patch.

I'd really like to see more adventure games with a chocies-matter & multiple-endings aspect. Most games
in that category, like "Life is Strange" or the stuff by Telltale only pretend that your choices matter. Not sure,
such a thign even exists. But yeah, I could do with more RPGs as well, real RPGs that let you customize
everything about your character and give you some influence on the story.

C'mon who voted survival? There are already too many of them.

3D platformers. There are plenty of 2D platformers, but 3D ones are in very short supply these days. The only ones of any note atm are Ratchet & Clank, Yooka-Laylee, A Hat in Time, Freeze Me, and Poi.

Unfortunately, I think your concept of "make the game first" could only exist in a world without investors, deadlines, or other budgetary concerns.

Organized Crime games where you actually manage an empire, instead of battling an entire warehouse full of enemies all by yourself (even though you are supposedly "the boss").

More turn-based strategies. I remember playing this great flash game series called Battalion...and dang, I would buy that series off Steam if the creator hadn't quit. The closest thing I've got now is XCOM 2, but that's a turn-based tactical.
What I'm saying is I want to play Battalion but bigger with generated levels and stuff! IDK really, just gimmie Battalion!

We need more arcade style score chasing games, quality shmups in particular..
At least Degica is working to bring some of the classic shmups to steam, and we just got Pac-man CE2

We need more creative people building new genres of games instead of following the cookie-cutter templates from others before them.

I've read a lot of people saying that there are just too many FPS these days.
Are there any video game genres that you feel we need more of?
I'm also creating a game for a project, if you want to help, i'd love some ideas :)
