TIP: to add more texture what looks natural, add different tones of the same color on different layers instead to use dodge and burn :P
And yes, yours looks badass, love it!

you using Photoshop ? if so, then the basic things what people use is Dodge tool and Burn tool to give theyr pictures that something, im not sayng its wrong, no, its right actualy, but it gives the picture that "mono tone", add more colors and blur them in, if you are not using photoshop to draw, then never mind :)

Paintbrush only? Well then i would recommend you to use "Art Rage 3.5", you sir are talented and shouldnt waste your talent on PhotoShop :P
