PATH OF EXILE - how D3 was supposed to be i mean dun get me wrong diablo 3 etc are nice too but if Grinding Gear Games (made PathOfExile) had blizzTARDS's budget & time -like,what,10 years+? ,PoE would've been game of the year for 5 years.

• PATH OF EXILE IS A MMORPG NON PAY2WIN UNLIKE MOST, GrindingGearGames get involved with the community,especially my homie Chris Wilson, THE GAME HAS PVP SINCE CLOSED BETA ;) pvp arenas etc. FREE 2PLAY COMPLETELY, The only stuff you can buy are some cosmetic,appearance items or extra vault tabs/extra character slots. CLASSES ARE - Witch,Marauder,Ranger,Duelist,Templar,Shadow.
  PoE-BuildOfTheWeek14 ; PoE-BuildOfTheWeek13 ; PoE-BuildOfTheWeek-12 also you should check all the others they rock,from 1 to 15 or whatever.(And they are old,since closed beta,almost all of them if not all).
  PASSIVE SKILL TREE IS HUUUGE :X at first it might seem overwhelming but it's epic - SkillTree and the ACTIVE SKILLS you get from some orbs,some GEMS you put into Sockets of the items & if the sockets in the items are linked sockets you can add support gems and stuff for example - Ice Spear + support gems LesserMultipleProjectiles/GreaterMultipleProjectiles/Both LMP and GMP and some other stuff BloodMagic support gem,Life-On-Hit/Lifesteal%/Both,etc ;) . BEST MMORPG EVER :) I'm min-maxing 5-7 epic invented builds on softcore then will move to Cut-Throat ladder when it comes (Full loot system,Open PVP ) and maybe combine it with Hardcore mode too ( perma death,or chars get moved to softcore idk same thing anyway for most ppl :D )

Neverwinter was pretty good for being free. And theres a guildwars 2 free weekend coming up 23-25 no monthly fee after you buy the game.

Lineage2 went free some time ago, but as I spent way more time playing that as I should have, I would advise against it.

Tera. Pretty much the only MMO that has combat something other than playing piano with your keyboard and waiting for shit to happen.

I liked Shin Megami Tensei: Imagine, but I am fan of the series in general.

The monsters are pretty unique though, and you have a Pokemonesque thing where you can catch the enemy creatures (And SMT did it before Pokemon, before anyone claims Rip-off)

Always wanted to get into EVE Online, I realize it isn't "free" but any MMO you dedicate to will have you slapping down some coin eventually. As I said, never really got into EVE but it seems to have an extremely deep community with many old, old players still active giving the game a lot of player-written history and politics. If I were ever to go for an MMO again, it would likely be EVE (possibly the new Elder Scrolls also).

Anarchy Online, though it's old, dead, pay to win and have subcripition to large part of game...

I played MapleStory for almost a year until it was given to Wizet, I don't know what its like now, but if they at least kept the first "continent" it could provide fun(shouldn't need money) for a while.

GP...reminds me of Runescape's ingame currency.

An MMORPG I liked was Dragon Nest, didn't get very far through it because my computer is kinda dumb sometimes.

try Blade & Soul, its a korean MMorpg its beening translated to english i saw it on youtube it might be nice but its not steam

Don't play anything that is under GameForge (european TERA, Aion and stuff). They're just awful company.

I'm surprised not to see EQ2 mentioned. F2P has two slots and no ability to buy from broker or send mail...toss $5 at it to unlock two more slots and buy from broker, or for the fairly minimal purchases you'd truly NEED early on, make a friend and ask them to take your money and buy bags etc on broker.

It's reasonably playable at bronze, truly good at silver, and full gold can be maintained via in game tokens called Kronos you can buy with in game currency. I have 5 accounts, hubby has 3, sister has 2...I regularly keep our main accounts up plus a month here and there for some of the minor perks on gold for about 45 min when I first wake up and a couple of 5 minute sessions during the day. Extremely easy for the class I picked, but almost any class can find a way to cheese it...I'd expect maybe a few of the pure healers could have issues.

You are lucky in you find a good MMORPG that is not pay-2-win or pay to play. How else are they meant to get their money from?

you could try lotro however, didn't play that much since they have a gold cap etc

I have been enjoying Star Wars: The Old Republic; but that is a little restricted for non-subscribers.

While not exactly free; it does not bear a subscription and is amazingly good. May I suggest Guild Wars 2?
