So I'm really interested in the roman era, but I can't really find any good games that cover that era. If you know any, please let me know. Games that I have played or that I'm still playing are:

Rome Total War
Total War Rome 2
Total War Attila (a bit later then what I'm really interested in, but it will do)
Ryse Son of Rome

I'm also a bit interested in the Medieval Era, but there are a lot of games that cover that time, but if you know any I really must play sometime, let me know that as well.

And of course a little GA (it's not much, but I still had it lying around).

EDIT: the vikings are also really fascinating to me. I've not seen many (good) games cover that either.

EDIT 2: Wow, I got way more responses then I expected. I won't have time to answer them all, but I'll look into the games you suggest. I really appreciate all suggestions!

I've played some city builders set in roman era, the old Caesar series (there were four of these games I think) and Glory of the Roman Empire. There's also a list of Ancient Rome games on Wiki, you should check that one!

The Caesar games are absolutely great! They're not on Steam though. Looks like someone is porting Caesar III to steam and it's free, but I haven't tried it.

For Medieval, play some Stronghold Crusader, which was very recently bundled.

Yeah, but I don't really like them. They are great, but it just takes too long to get somewhere. Way too much grinding for me.
There is a roman mod for it btw

Empire Earth had a nice Roman campaign included.
It was a real time strategy game and it is not available on Steam, so I guess that is no option.

It's avialable on gog, so of course it is an option.

Never been extremely keen on roman games, however some recommandations for medieval/ancient games would be

Age of Empires 2 (absolute classic, probably my favourite game of all time)
Age of Mythology (awesome greek related strategy based game)
Age of Empires 3 (The sequel to Aoe2, not as good but still an interesting game)
Medieval 2: Total War (just good)

Never actually looked into Age of Empire, but I always intended to do it someday. Medieval 2 is great! I've played that so much...

If you have time, go for it. It's been the same awesome game ever since my childhood and the community is still alive after so many years thanks to the steam release of the game. :d

Yeah, its one of my all-time favorites as well. I believe there's another expansion coming soon for it too!

Mount and Blade Warband for medival (low fantasy, there is no magic or other races exept humans). And it have great mods for Rome and Medivel ages. Most of the mods are better then most AAA games for touse eras.

Europa universalis Rome, but only if you also get the expansion (included with gold).

The Great Battles series has a game based on Rome.

AGEOD has a roman-era game. I'm on my phone right now, so cheking the name is a bit awkward, but i'm sure you'll be able to find it

AC Brotherhood is Renaissance Roman, not Ancient Roman.

I know, just finished AC2, will begin brotherhood in a few days. Great games, but not really the setting I'm looking for (I still hope they'll eventually make an AC set in roman era, even if the templars didn't exist. It was hinted before that the assassins existed long before the templars, so maybe one day...)

It's a bit old and far from the best from Paradox. Maybe on sale... I'm a fan of these Paradox Grand Strategy games but I'd rather recommend some of the most recent ones: Cusader Kings II (medieval) and my favorite Europa Universalis IV (15th-19th C.) and maybe hope for a Europa Universalis Rome 2 in the future.
