Hi there
im having a problem with my client for a few days now.
every time i try to login into my account the client just closes or says it cannot connect to the steam network.
i however can login into a different account on the same pc. i can also log into my account on my roommates pc.

Anyone has got some ideas how to fix that? every input is appreciated
PS: i already wrote steamsupport but this might take a few days so im asking you guys

you can just cut the steamapps folder , and uninstall / reinstall steam.
Then move back the folder .. and you save your games .

Does deleting everything in the Steam folder except for steam.exe and steamapps folder achieve the same or similar thing as uninstalling and reinstalling Steam? Next time when launching Steam it would automatically download all the files.

I am thinking of doing this because my Steam client is somehow acting weird recently, but I don't want to move around all those games installed on my SSD just yet, but if it doesn't work out I am thinking of reformatting the entire hard disk and re-installing Windows anyways since I seem to have some other minor problems with the OS after upgrading.

Few days is wishful thinking :D

Jokes aside , maybe you somehow restricted the account from logging on the pc ?
Like parental control option or something :?

Not really sure sorry cant help much with that :|

Found that : https://www.reddit.com/r/Steam/comments/3jco2a/could_not_connect_to_the_steam_network_but_only/

Removing only "Steam\userdata[your_steam3_id]\config\localconfig.vdf" fixing issue for some users, other can't connect even by deleting entire userdata or using any other tricks

Let me know if it did it .

I swear that I'm not saying this trying to be a jerk, but Googling "cannot connect to the steam network" comes up with a lot of results, with many of them marked as solved. Have you tried any of them?

Idn. With me steam have been frequently taking longer to load showinv 'verifyng steam credential' like it never did before and once or twice i had to verify my account...

BUT on my case i know the reason- first re-login happened after i got wallpaper engine and this all started after this software; the reason a dumb one: steam can suspect some parallel runing of 2 or more 'games' and fail to put software supposed to run on background all the time off this check.

Maybe something similar with this or other app happened
