is what I am doing right now! I need your power, your help!

Please ><

SO my laptop (A Toshiba Qosmio X7753D) has been shuting itself down even for a game of Dota 2.
Months ago, I could play Skyrim with decent high graphic, Dishonored, Starcraft 2 and of course Dota 2 with no problem at all.
Now a mere Dota 2 shuts down my laptop..

I am guessing that the problem is some updates (Could be Nvidia's) but I have reverted back to the old one after a few GPU updates. Though I dont know which version was the best but I guess and pick one of the old one..

Could also be the ventilation but then, its just a Dota 2 game and it turn off when I havent even start the match.. Some of the games that would quickly shut down my laptop mercilessly are Krater, Betrayer, Fallen Enchantress..

Games that I could still play with no problem are Skullgirls, How to Survive, Stalker Clear Sky.. These are what I played recently and survive the sudden turn off..

I have been suffering this (1st world problem) for months too.. What can I do to fix this people of earth? Please lend my your strength.. Please..
What can I do to fix this?

Below is my DXDIAG.text

Thanks guys..

Have your PC ever suffered from overheating?

Yes but not from Dota 2 and smaller games before..

Now big games that used to work easily seems to suffer from this too..

I'm afraid it might be something with the Graphic Driver?

First I would try cleaning it. It's normal for the dust to accumulate and give overheating issues.

This. I had a machine that wasn't overheating for most things... then started overheating for everything..... :/

I last clean this on Des last year though.. I'm scared I might ruin something inside accidentally again ><

Would a laptop cooler help?

I would definitely recommend a laptop cooler if it's overheating. But at the very least, you need to use compressed air to blow out the dust if it's overheating.... Unless the fan died (like mine, at which point I took the bottom off and had the laptop cooler directly blowing on the cpu... lol)

Not really ... I'd see what your local store has in stock, then compare that with amazon reviews and see what they have that is the best... unless you don't mind waiting for amazon to ship it to you. :D

Amazon is no good in my country.. The shipping + custom tax are often more expensive than the item itself ><

and local brand are crappy.. best way is to buy brand from outside at local store, then again, the Cooler Master I bought is so bad..
I can easily stop the fan with my tongue.. It is so sloww ><

Again, see what brands the stores carry and see if there are reviews on it... but if these are the issues you're having... you probably need to clean it anyways... or replace the fan... or both.

I'm more concerned that you licked your computer!

From personal experience: it helps, but not enough. Better do both (once and if you have established that overheating is really the issue).

Hi Jasmine,

I just got back from another "Crash / shut down"..

Latest CPU temp was around low 70
The rest are around 49 - 50

So it should not overheat right?

There are plenty of software that can do it. Just google and choose one you like best.

I actually linked you one for CPU only by mistake. Try speccy or HWmonitor or speedfan maybe. I'm not familiar with HWmonitor and I have last used speedfan years ago, but they are pretty popular.

Was thinking to check this thermal paste thingy but I dont really know where that thing is exactly.

Have opened my laptop twice before. The last one made me accidentally damaged the cable to my speaker (Fixed myself tho) and did something that made it wont turn on (Fixed after bringing it to Toshiba)..

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJz7IT-fWqA its on spanish, but you could get an idea, remove all that you need until you can access to the processor (without energy / batery , ofcourse) then remove the processor (so you dont accidentaly break it while you clean it) , clean the old thermal paste and apply the new one (beware of this, you dont need to apply a lot of it ) and there you go :)

PC's autoshutdown when a critical part reach a very high temperature. I'm pretty sure you have a overheating. Thermal paste tends to degrede over time. So, it's recommended to clean every now and then, as change paste every 3~4 years. Please, do that and keep us posted.

My son's laptop used to do the same, cleaned out the dust and got one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zalman-ZM-NC3-Ultra-Cooler-Laptop/dp/B0091CVSYU and hasn't had any problems since on any games.

Would it be better to get 1 big ass fan or a few small ones?

Though it also depends on the rotation speed..

It shouldn't really matter if you have one big one or say 4 small ones, The one in the link has a 200mm fan and it's been very good for about 4 years now. He mainly plays CSGO. Rotation shouldn't really matter either as long as it's blowing it'll keep the laptop cool.

Try blowing it with compressed air to remove the dust. I do it in mine each 3 months (I have a air compessor in my house).

And if you want a cooler i recommend "cooler master notepal u3". It have 3 fans that you can adjust his position for the most suitable position for your laptop.

Reinstall your os(clean install), IF you set windows 10, go back to 8.1, IF you on 8.1 promote your windows to 10(some games will suffer a litle), Clean your notebook, there are loads of videos of how to open your friend without hurt him 0.O, use a notebook cooler when playing(your pall will be happy with some fresh air), last if the games still crashing after all this and your temp is still on the high grounds go for a professional.

The way you put it, i see a software going wrong, but then again windows can be a litle nuts sometimes, the best way to fix software troubles is a full reinstal, take less than an hour and you gonna get some performance improviments, if you dont want that, clean you notebook first and see if theres some results, if the trouble continue then format.
