just did my first drawing, and someone won! woo!
well they hanvt claimed it yet, am i being impatient? its been sent... but its been about 24 hours now
so whats the next step?

Just be patient, send them an e-mail or just message them through steam (If that's how you sent it.)

Yep, thats the best solution; just contact him via steam-profile or mail and remember he has to click the gift as received; also, if he already won other games in the past he will mark it as received, so you shouldnt be nervous or worried about that :)

he has 7 days to mark it as received, take a screenshot with proof showing that you sent him the gift, just to be safe in case he doesnt mark it as received

Find their address, go to where they live, and force them at gunpoint to mark it as received, "or else".
