All Steam Community pages don't load, nor Inventory, nor achievements, yet the Store itself works fine. I can download fine. Probably trying to stamp out competition for their domestic platform.

FYI.

I thought people in China did everything through VPNs. Well, not much you can do I guess.
I know I'm being negative, but what can you expect from a non-democratic country?

The idea is by February next year. It is already causing issues with companies that need access to data from abroad.

non democratic country? you still believe there are existing democracy anywhere on the globe? All just elected despotism, in many countries like USA minority votes still enough to rule, because of the electing system.

Yeah, I know, the US system is BS. When did I even mention the US? I just said that China is non democratic so you can't even vote for someone else, you can't protest, you can't do much, that's what I said. Still don't get what the yanks have to do with this.

they have nothing to do with this, just was an example. And protesting in these "elected despotism" nearly useless always, its like not having the ability to protest at all.

There's a diference between "nearly useless" and actually useless. If you can affect stuff 1 of every 10 times it's still better than 0.

Install DNScrypt + TOR on your router and make him route all blocked pages through TOR and you are free to roam the internet =))

A little background info about the circumstances under which Steam operates in China in regards to this development: http://www.gamerevolution.com/news/360353-steam-community-features-blocked-downloads-throttled-china

I didn't know that this situation was so precarious for Valve (or non-homegrown games in general, for that matter) in China :/

As of today, it seems like steam and some more vpns have been blocked.

It still works fine for me here in Beijing, except for community pages (including inventory and wishlist), while VPNs are unaffected still. Where are you?
