go to where a game is installed, terminate steam, launch the game exe. Many steam games don't need steam to work. This way Steam won't track nor time played nor achievements.

If it's not an online/multiplayer game I suggest you just block out Steam with a firewall, that doesn'tt just prevent achievements from being recorded but also keeps your playtiem hidden. It's what I usually do, unless I'm farming cards, because I Kinda hate when Valve collects that kind of information.

Because their useless, and a disgrace showing your games as if they were never played?
(A lot of mine were played either through familiy sharing on other platforms or before Steam
or simply not at all - but why would anyone know, having a public profile sure isn't reason enough).

Your best bet would be to disble the overlay. You might still unlock them but you wont see them unlock in game at least.

Sadly your right still getting achievements but at least no pesky achievement notifications. Thanks for the info.

If you play an embarrassing game, be proud about it.

But not all games have cheats, and mods will still unlock achievements

What if you just hide the game? It would make sense that the achievements would also be hidden, then.

I'm fairly sure that doesn't work. Hiding is just for organizing your library. You don't even have to install a game in order to make Steam believe that you're playing it and record your playtime and statistics. The only way, to make sure that Valve doesn't collect any information about your game progress, for how long and when you play a game (and store that information forever on some of their servers) is to block Steam with your firewall and play in offline mode.

Valve would still collect that data, of course, but I assumed the purpose of the OP in hiding the achievements was to hide the playtime/ownership of certain games from other users. I've only used the hide function to get rid of betas, freebies and other useless stuff from my library, so I wasn't sure how much the function hides from your friends and other Steam users.

I've played most of my games offline. It looks like I haven't completed anything.

I would like that feature because I have OCD with games that if I do not get at least half of the achievements, I get antsy and annoyed.

Download SAM and delete your achievements if you get some, I guess. I think it's the only way.

Or lauch the exe while steam is offline, look if this works.
