Have never really played any rpg's before. Is it worth getting over Wargame Franchise even if I enjoy rts titles a lot?
Edit

Should have worded it differently (sorry). I have almost no experience in the genre. Witcher 3 certainly does looking interesting but idk if its worth it due to having no knowledge over this game. On the other hand, Wargame is also on sale and I am a fan of the rts genre. Was wondering if Witcher 3 was still worth it.

So are the GTA games, yet I don't like them. Not every game is for everyone. :P

I believe his point is: if you wish to try this genre for the first time, the Witcher is probably one of the best games to start with.

Also it's story isn't overly reliant on the previous games, so that fine too.

It's an excellent game but not necessarily as an introduction. If this is your first it'll spoil everything else and nothing will hold up too it.

Fair point. After playing this first, one wouldn't touch Morrowind with a 10 foot pole. The interface! My eyes! The control scheme!

It's easy to learn (especially on easy). But experience... Lets say that you won't need any different games soon xD

If you like rts and have no interest in rpg-genre?
It's obvious. No, of course.

If you have no interest in RPGs - No.
If you just worry about your experience - Yes.

The series is great, but if you have no interest in the genre, maybe it's not your cup of tea. Try the first one, if you like what you see, dive in.

To be fair, have never truly played a rpg game before. Think I might get Witcher 3 just for the experience.

Better to watch a gameplay video of the game first :)

The games are based on a book series, so they have amazingly rich worlds and storyline. If the gameplay feels weird for you at the beginning, push a little further and I guarantee you'll be hooked! :D

Warband has quite a few RPG aspects and you played it. Imagine Warband with a deeper character progression system, story and without the political and military management parts - if you would enjoy that, you'd also enjoy games like the Witcher.

If you don't like RPGs, really not the best starting place. It's a great game and all, but there have been better RPGs before, that you can get far cheaper.

haven't played it myself but my wife has played the crap out of it on her pc and loves it,would defiantly get it while its $25 i doubt it will be any cheeper during the summer sale. I just bought a copy myself in anticipation of my GTX 1080 :)

First played it on my laptop's shitty AMD APUand loved every second of the 7fps goodness. Then built a gaming rig and did it again in all its glory. My 970 has been RMA'd so just waiting for it to get returned so I can go through again with the expansion's.

If you never ever played RPGs id say there might be better choices than the Witcher Series, in my opinion. But thats coming from someone who only played the first Witcher and didnt like it! ;)

you might do it like this:

search for a lets play and watch the first hour of the game. if ur into it, the first hour will be spoiled for you, but im pretty sure there will come much more after that you can enjoy.
if you dont like it after seeing the first hour, search for something different. BUT! search something man. RPGs are ♥

The series is great and Witcher 3 is an awesome game. However, if you didn't play the first two, have interest in the genre and aren't willing to put the many hours it requires to finish it, it may not be worth it for you.

i don't understand the question...

if you never played a rpg, yes, i would get it since the game is awesome and there's a chance you will enjoy it a lot.
but if you don't have any interest in rpgs, then don't bother.

oh, then scratch the second sentence in my reply. :3

anyway, if you want to play witcher, i would start with the first game just to get the whole experience (you can import your savegame to the 2nd, then to the 3rd game).

Witcher 2 is on sale for $3. Get it to test the waters. If you find you like this kind of game, buy W3 on summer sale

+1 Even if The Witcher 3 is better in every aspect, if The Witchr 2 doesn't interest you better avoid it. The Witcher 2 is an excellent game for someone who likes RPGs or/and The Witcher series.

Sure, and if you never played an rpg, start with witcher 3. Awsome history, enviroments, graphics and gameplay. If you like it you can play 1&2, and another materpieces rpgs.

You better play witcher 1 first, and then 2, then start playing witcher 3. To increase experience :"3

Yes, but imo the game is really old and outdated, and with a weaker plot and gameplay than 2&3. I figure he would be better off just doing a bit of catching up with the lore beforehand and then jumping into 2.

let take a math, Witcher 1 is about 10 hr gameplay, witcher 2 is around 13 hr gameplay, and witcher 3 is literally forever, so, why not take a little prepare ?

The Witcher 1 is a lot longer than 10 hours - even a speedrun on the easiest difficulty without doing anything but the story might take longer than that. I finished it in 60 hours the first time and 41 hours (according to Steam) the second time; if you want all the game has to offer, ~40 hours is a reasonable amount of time you will spend in it.

But all the extra flavours are in sidequests. If you want speedrun Witcher 1, you can as well skip it

The first witcher is one of the best rpgs out there from my point of view (but I was a fan of NWN when the witcher released, so I guess my opinion is a tad biased).

I didnt like Witcher even though I love third person platformers like Prince of Persia.
Mainly because the character movement is so wooden. If the character moved a bit better, it could have been a great game. Instead they tried to make it realistic and as a result its annoying and slow movement.
