(Feb 27 Edit) Resolved
I make a habit of imposing higher Level requirements on my (")better(") GA's. I recently gave away a full-priced AAA game; must've been Level 6 to gain access. However, many of my (")friends(") aren't as prone to GA as many bundled games as me, hence the question:
If you're to make a GA bound to a Level and also include your White List, only those in the White List that are at or above that Level may enter. What would y'all think about having both of those conditions being (able to be set) independent(ly), i.e. instead of "members of your White List who are Level #" have it be "SteamGifters who are Level # and every member of White List"?

(Feb 19 Edit) Resolved
Say you hold a GA for a complete version of a game (i.e. base + DLC) and stipulate that those who already have the base game aren't allowed to enter. The winner has their profile set to Private. You want to be sure that the victor doesn't have the base game. What'd be the best course of action (because I'm not able to just trust the winner since it's an open GA with no Level restrictions)?

(First Edit) Resolved
Let me resurrect this for a minute:
So I have a single key for Tex Murphy Complete Pack, and I have keys for each individual game within that pack. I don't understand CV and all that SGTools stuff and whatever; How can I figure which (the pack or the individuals) I should giveaway?

(Original Post) Resolved
My SteamGifts account is a month old and only became active... last week, I think.

If I have multiple keys for a single game, I usually put all of them into one GA.
I have seen a few instances of one user having multiple GA's open, each with one copy of a game.
Is it strictly user's choice, or is there some tactic to employ when deciding how to handle multiple copies of one game?
From the little I know, th'only conclusion I can come up with:
Each open GA prevents you from making another one; Each open GA allots more space to you - more exposure.

While I've got you:
Does the amount of points required to enter one of your GA's affect how much (")XP(") you get towards your SteamGifts level? Or is it just based on the number of GA's you... GA?
Are there other acronyms pertinent to SteamGifts I should know of?
How do you embed images and GIF's in comments (oh aye, not just a noob to SteamGifts itself)?

I'm certain there are other such rookie questions, but I strain to think of any more at the moment. If there's any ((")basic(")) advice you can give - besides "join groups, be active, get whitelisted, join GA's with a small amount of entries, keep trying," - 't'would be 'ppreciated.

I'd've done a poll on trading, but IDK what for to means of "games required."

P.S. I won a GA within my first month of being on the site. From the little I've read of others' experiences, I'm kind of proud of that luck. Should I be?

Just my thoughts on some (not all) parts:

If I have multiple keys for a single game, I usually put all of them into one GA.
I have seen a few instances of one user having multiple GA's open, each with one copy of a game.
Is it strictly user's choice, or is there some tactic to employ when deciding how to handle multiple copies of one game?

User's choice. I generally prefer a single GA with multiple copies because there's always the chance that the same person can win multiple copies, leading to reroll headaches.

From the little I know, th'only conclusion I can come up with:
Each open GA prevents you from making another one; Each open GA allots more space to you - more exposure.

Regardless of whether you make a single giveaway with multiple copies, or multiple giveaways of single copies, you use up the same number of slots. E.G. a single GA of 4 copies will use up 4 slots, same as 4 GAs of 1 copy each. You might be right on that "more exposure" thing.

Does the amount of points required to enter one of your GA's affect how much (")XP(") you get towards your SteamGifts level? Or is it just based on the number of GA's you... GA?

In a sense, yes. Technically, no. Your SteamGifts level is dependent on the value of what you give away. So if you give away a $15 value game, your value will increase by $15. HOWEVER - you have to take into note whether the game was marked as a bundled game - you gain even LESS value.

How do you embed images and GIF's in comments (oh aye, not just a noob to SteamGifts itself)?

Yes. Basic statistics - you've entered 887, assuming each GA has about 1000 entries which is pretty much the norm for public GAs, you should have, if you aren't close to, won one around now :)

I have never put (or would put) other steam keys into one giveaway. I would just make multiple giveaways. It might confuse the site or something.

Does the amount of points required to enter one of your GA's affect how much (")XP(") you get towards your SteamGifts level? Or is it just based on the number of GA's you... GA? This is a good question, and 1 I did not know the answer to until I gave games away. when you give games away, or comment on something, you get (")XP(") towards your steamgifts level.

Are there other acronyms pertinent to SteamGifts I should know of? only GA (giveaway) SG (Steam Gifts). Idk of anything else :P

How do you embed images and GIF's in comments (oh aye, not just a noob to SteamGifts itself)? I dont know man, I just don't know XP

The value on steamgifts is constantly changing, because of sales and bundles, ill cut it short:
if the game u are giving away is/was in bundle ( like indiegala or bundlestars ) then u get way to less xp in steamgifts, if not then u get a full value ( like if u giveaway nonebundled game worth 15$ then u get 15xp after the winner confirms getting it ), that is with 1 exception: if u give a nonebundled game and later it gets in a bundle then its value on steamgifts well get lower, which means u can loss some lvls

It's simply user choice whether to do a multiple copy GA or make more, but I think a single one is easier to handle and the generally more accepted thing. "XP" is based on your GA value and is given at a 15% rate if it was bundled. If not, that goes towards the pool of total value you need for the next level (level 3 is $50 for example). There is a chart of the Real CV in the discussions and a calculator to see how much you have and got from each thing. Your luck is astounding. Congratulations on winning a game. Some advice I can give is to try to keep your GA ratio more given than won or people take offense and thank the poster if you win something. Images/GIFs are embedded by HTML tags like I think. Haven't tried it myself but that should work in theory.

It doesn't really matter if you have 3 GAs with 1 copy each or 1 GA with 3 copies, it still takes 3 slots. I'd say it's best to keep it all in one GA if they're all going to be the same anyway. It's less effort and you eliminate the possibility of duplicate winners.

http://www.steamgifts.com/about/faq will answer some of your questions. Steamgift = SG. lvl = amount you giveaway but beware that bundle games ga are 15% in value towards lvl. The only reason i can think of people making multiple giveaway is maybe the amount of points distributed will increase?(not sure if a giveaway of 5 games = or < 5 giveaway of same game give towards the amount of points distributed to everyone)

Alrighty, let me tackle this.

Is it strictly user's choice, or is there some tactic to employ when deciding how to handle multiple copies of one game?
As far as creating multiple copies of one giveaway, it's based solely on user preference. You get a set amount of "giveaway slots" based on the number of "Giveaways Received" that you have. For instance, I have 107 based on my current feedback. I could make 107 seperate Bad Rats giveaways or I could make one giveaway for 107 copies of Bad Rats. User preference. :)

Does the amount of points required to enter one of your GA's affect how much (")XP(") you get towards your SteamGifts level? Or is it just based on the number of GA's you... GA?
No, there's no correlation between points generated and a user's Contributor Level. Your Contributor Level is based on the amount value of giveaways that you have created. For more information on levels I'll direct you to this post. Contributor Levels.

Points: How do I receive or earn more points (P)?

All users on the site are given an equal number of points, and you cannot do anything outside of waiting patiently to increase your number of points. The number of points being distributed to users is based on the number of giveaways being posted to the site, and you'll frequently see your points automatically rise throughout the day.

How do you embed images and GIF's in comments (oh aye, not just a noob to SteamGifts itself)?
You can read all about comment formatting under this section.

With that, welcome to Steamgifts! I'd encourage you to read the FAQ and the Guidelines sections as there is a wealth of information there very useful for new users! :D

P.S. Winning a game in you're first month is pretty cool! It's really based on math though. I would say 1 in 546 entries was a pretty lucky! ^.^

It isn't the number of GAs, but the value of the GA itself. There is surely a difference between bundled and unbundled, but overall the points required to enter the GA directly relates to how much "XP" you'll get. Either 15% of the P value or 100% of the P Value.

No?

damn everything was already commented. but since i'm a spammer i'll also drop my reply :3

single GA means less chances of same users winning them. it's also nicer since users will only spend X points to enter instead of multiple times.
points to enter is capped at max 100, toy could give away a pack worth $300 and it will still be 100p.
cv is the game price taken from the US store, unless it's bundled (over 95% off on any region or added to a low tier bundle site), which is 15% of the US store price.

some advice: follow the rules (no multiple wins, unactivated wins, no calling out people on the forums, no begging, etc), win more. :3

Put them into one giveaway please. That is what you should do. Not what you must do, but, it is best.

I don't know off hand, but you can check the bundle list to see if the individual games are on there. If all the games are, then the pack will be too, in which case, it's just preference.

Is there still not an official bundled list?

It's here
Do note that the bundle list is not updated automatically, so it might take a little while from when a game gets bundled to it getting added to the list.

Whichever you think would be best. Note that the complete pack is worth less CV than the individual games, as it costs less to buy than it would cost to buy all their games on their own.

You should contact the winner and ask him/her to give you access to his/her profile so you can verify your request. If he/she refuses to/doesn't respond, you can file a ticket and have support check for you/perform a reroll - "winner doesn't respond" is a valid reason for a reroll.

I just noticed the weird structure of this thread. If you allow me a humble advice: I would create a new thread whenever I have a new question. People will see there are not many replies yet and check it out more likely in order to be helpful, whereas threads with many replies tend to be overlooked, because the question might already be answered.

LOL yeah, but I'd rather do it like this, just to keep from "unnecessary spam-age." Keeping it all confined to one post also might reduce others asking the same questions (probably not but 's'what I tell myself). Also, it's better for whatever GA's I post here, as they'll probably remain with few entries (I helped with a co-op train a while back and bumped the thread vehemently; I do this as I do to try and re-instill a-disaprin and leave the discussion until something pertinent happens (my previous bump being to signify the GA (and new question))).
Thanks for the answer BTW, should probably post the latest question in an actual suggestion thread or something... shrug
