Nice, a very welcome addition ^^ Looking forward for them to finally begin development on the social aspect of the platform.

now let them add API and we can have GOG GAs on SG, as we will be able to check activation ^^

that would be awesome, but then again older clients like Origin and uPlay haven't done that sadly

they also didn't give you public profiles (note that profiles at uPlay and Origin are private only, part of your account management), GOG profiles are public, there's no need for profiles API if profiles are not public, but there may be usefullness for API when profiles are public ;) Also uPlay does not support gifting at all. Ofc you could still buy a key on third party website and give it to someone, but range of titles is much more limited than actual store, while GOG has gifts for years now.

I see now, do you know how to share my public profile URL from GOG? I tried just going to my profile and copy-pasting the URL but when I visit such URL while logged off it only redirects me to a login page.

I like the design a lot, now, using this with the Galaxy client is rough because everything is so mismatched, color and design wise. But I am sure they will improve that.

It's OK I guess, although I wish there was an option to use single-colored backgrounds intead of those horrible gradients :/

Being able to change it into another ugly gradient pic (or a game background that will render the page unreadable) isn't much of a choice :/ I wish I was able to set a solid black or purple image as background, without egg yolk spilt on it :x

Early days still, might get solid color choices later on hopefully.

pretty sure a gog user did that about six years back - a trade site on the side as well

yeah, Delta mentioned it years ago, because he was doing GOG gifting, but reason for 'nope' was that there was no way to verify win activation. There is still no such way, but introduction of beta-profiles brings up hope, that maybe they will one day decide to publish API similar to SteamAPI - and then we could freely use GOG gifting for GAs.

Not quite true. A bot accoutn can glean enough info from a redeem code. Its always been that way, save for promo codes, whcih expire and have no user / owner applied to them.

I guess bot account checking hundreds/thousands of keys per day would be considered DDoS and quite quickly get banned altogether. There is a reason Steam released an API - because they didn't want massive DDoS done by scraper bots.

About as useless to me as Steam profiles, but I'm sure a lot of other people will enjoy it.

It's up to you what use do you give to profiles and stuff. They've been really useful to me more than once.

I think it's cool. I like the fact they gave us a background for each owned game.
