Do you like the concept of The Witcher as a turn-based RPG with an emphasis on visual novel
Nobody is getting sued when there is no money involved. Worst case scenario, he receives a desist letter to stop working on it. Which is way I usually recommend wait till it's finished without publicity, and then release it.
Anyway, the game looks interesting. Waiting for the full release.

no i am pretty sure that is not how copyright works - he can and very well still might get sued

The trailer looks very good and like a game i would enjoy.
I hope you have all needed permissions from CDPR and maybe Sapkowski too or it will be a short life for the game.
That it will released for free have on the needed rights and permissions no influence.
If you don't have the permissions.... write CDPR, show them the trailer, explain your plans and hope for the best.

looks cool but be very careful about this

'1. Create a great game
'2. Submit your CV to CDPR with the trailer/demo (have a demo ready that excludes witcher references for negotiating purposes)
'3. Agree on job interview on an 8USD commision on each sold copy and further 20% comission on merchandise.
'4..
'5. Profit.

I really liked the sideways movement of Geralt while the fight was loading. I pictured him circling the monster, or the two circling each other. Instead of the loading time being a boring few seconds, that animation built dramatic tension in a cinematic way. Nice.

You will definitly be open to getting sued by using cdpr's art. To be safe I think you need to release this as a mod for the witcher 3. Your "Geralt" does a great job at matching Doug Cockel's voice but you need a native english speaker to edit the writing for grammar and clarity. Your scene transistions are very cool with the tree trunks panning across the screen. one thing that i hope you add is a conversation with the werewolf before you force the player to decide on whether or not to kill them, maybe they plead with the player about how they have a family, or maybe they try to warn the player of a harder fight coming up that they would help you with or something, just to make the decision have more layers. overall, very cool idea and i loved the sketched animations

If you want writing help, i wrote a large witcher d and d campaign and love the world of the continent. I added you to my whitelist too :)

The trailer looks cool.
Just an FYI it doesn't matter if you release it for free, it's still their IP. You should definitely to talk to CDPR, if you release it they'll more than likely send out a cease and desist to you.

A big yes. This is my kind of game and I really liked the preview. It's really well done.

Hi there,
For some time now, I have been working on a fan project related to the Witcher brand. In connection with this, I would like to gather as much feedback as possible from players. Do you like this type of adventure, "intimate" but focusing on story, moral dilemmas, and brutal fights with monsters (and more)? Will be gratefull for all opinion.
I am posting a video below, where You can check the preview of my project

BTW. i know The Witcher is Trademark of CDPR and Sapkowski, and to be clear i'm not going to violate copyright. It will be release for free.
