Nox is a pretty safe emulator from what I know. Make sure you always have two step authentication on your accounts.

Seconding this. Been using it for a while, no problems.

They do promote a lot of their random events and things, though.

Doesn't BlueStacks keep asking you to install sponsored apps if you want to keep using free version? Some people even claim it downloads apps without your consent. Never gave it a try due to people complaining about it being a bloatware.

Huh. No, I haven't gotten anything like that at all -- no forced installments, no secret bloatware.

I don't know if that maybe happened in a previous version, or if my antivirus just always has my back B)

It just adds icons as advertisement. It doesn't actually install them.

Maybe they changed it on the latest version, but an older version absolutely downloaded and installed apps without asking - and it was full apps, not just adding icons as advertisements.

I used to use this one. Then I got random BSOD-s trying to launch the thing, and it turned out it was just incompatible with my antivirus (bitdefender).

+1 for Blue Stacks. Not sure where the bad rep is coming from because I've been using it without any issue. It's not downloading anything nor demanding you download anything and the advertising is very limited to non invasive even promo stuff.

As i found on internet, it sends data to some servers.

What data and what servers? And just out of curiosity, where did you read it? Was it a documented article or just some paranoid reddit rant? Their privacy policy is pretty straightforwards and kinda standard for this type of program. I haven't seen any suspicious activity from the app itself.
I mean... you want to be safe nowadays? Just unplug your computer from your router and disconnect your phone. It's everywhere, man.

I like Nox ... but be aware. It has problems with having Microsoft's HyperV installed on a system and may crash. But in case you don't use it and deinstall this feature, all should be fine.

The android SDK's emulator should be as safe as it gets, but you can't really play on it if that's what you're up to.
Those emulators you can play on are bloated with ads or ad-free versions can be bought, but you never know what's modified in the system.
I use Nox to play some games, but i'd never input an important account in it. Other mentionable emulators are BlueStacks, MEmu or Andy.
Maybe i'm too wary, maybe it's for the better - some streamers though emulate their games in BlueStacks and pay tons of money in-app.

By my personal experiences, Nox has much better performance than, is much more stable than, and lacks the safety concerns of Andy and BlueStacks. It's a more capable emulator without the (auto-malware-installing) safety issues of the other two. I haven't used any but those three (though I can note that Memu, along with Andy and Bluestacks, did crash my system on Win10 even with HyperV uninstalled), but I get the impression Nox has an edge over Memu, Droid4x, and the others as well.

So, Nox is safe?

Nox seems to just do advertising with splash-images in the launch screen, each time you load it up. If you click on that image during that duration, it'll download the game linked; In other words, I've never yet had it download anything without my involvement. Moreover, the games it advertises have thus far been recognizable ones (Lineage 2, Marvel games, etc), rather than the obscure stuff auto-downloaded by the other two. I've not had any problems with the downloads from the ads that I have decided to click on (whereas the other two emulators drove my anti-virus crazy each launch). Nox all around feels like a more professional product, something which is further emphasized by it smoothly running apps the other two have problems handling.

And.. which is safer?

I'd say 2 options:

  1. Use VMWare to create a virtual pc, then simply install android there. Works 100% and you'd be safe because it's contained there, in the virtual pc.
  2. I've heard you can use an android sim in win10, tho I have no further info about it and what I did tried had bad results; it didn't work and think also messed up network configs..

I've used the virtual option and there're a few sandbox options for you, althought you might need something better than a toaster :P
I've tried Bluestacks and it sucked. Despite me having a decent pc, the soft crawled and left crap on my system.

I don't remember much, honestly, it was like 2 years ago maybe more :P
I did google something so see if I could jog the memory tho, this thread have some valid points I didn't mention, like the touch support while using the mouse. Also below it's a link to a guide on a virtual machine. Do keep in mind it's from 2016 so it may be outdated/broken.

I think what I tried -unsuccessfully- was an SDK for windows, which not only didn't work but also messed up network configs.
Still think your best bet are virtual machines.

Sorry if this wasn't the answer you were expecting.

I recommend Nox, used it to freq. get some Hearthstone promos via that emu, smooth, safe, but stopped playing HS year+ ago so didn't use it anymore, it was really good, and safe emu, just research little bit to see if nothing changed.

Bluestacks and Memu are the ones I've tried. Bluestacks used to download some apps automatically, but they've changed that in the new versions, so it's good now. I tried Droid before but I think that one's kinda sketchy.

Android Studio's own emulator is probably a "safe" one.
I have used Memu and Andy in the past and both were perfectly fine, not sure what they are like currently though.

Andy didn't work very stable for me, but MEmu works fine. No idea about others πŸ™‚ both downloaded shit apps I don't need but I guess all apps work that way to get some $$$

No matter what, don't get Bluestacks. I've tried it, and it's a shell of its former self. Nox works great for everything I need it for.
