I want to play the game for a long time, but I am not sure if I should play the original or wait for the remake
I have a decent PC and can play DOOM on med-high settings

Remake would be there maiden knows when. You probably would have to wait for a year at least. And mods can "upgrade" graphics, if that concerns you.

Play the original with texture upgrade mod :) And then play the remake later on (buy it from the sale or something).
