Is this a new thing? I don't remember that being a thing before. Trying to buy something it says "Steam Link Required
Before you can purchase your copy of FINAL FANTASY V, you must link your Steam account to your Humble Bundle account"

That's weird, and I hope they don't make it mandatory for humble choice >.<

you think that only 2% of people would stay as customers of choices if they had to use all the games on their own account - and if they already have the game they waste a key? you think people will like and agree to this

i doubt it if it stopped giveaways and trading - if it didn't it would not matter

I think they asked me that already long ago, they hate key resellers, they ban accounts, so probably a precaution for them.

I've run into that on occasion, and I want to say it has been with other Square Enix titles. They also tend to require it to redeem games they give out for free, and for some bundles. I think it may be at the publisher's request. You can just go back and unlink your account as soon as you've finished your purchase. As long as you aren't doing a lot of reselling, trading, using multiple accounts, etc you shouldn't have anything to worry about. The most they are likely to get out of it is some marketing info that they probably already have. Up to you if you care about that sort of thing or not.

I think I've bought SE stuff before and never been asked before. They all seem to ask now tho, wasn't sure if that was new or I was missing something.

Yeah, then they will know that your humble bundle keys are not redeemed on your steam account... so they will treat you as reseller and ban your hb account. Yes, they did it to me :/

European consumer laws don't allow them to do that to European users so I'm not sure they'll be able to make this a mandatory step.

I have a feeling this will become a lot more common in the future.

Well, it's inevitable really.

Unlinked my steam account, then tried to buy it, and yes it shows the same message before i can put it in the cart.
That message doesn't ask to activate the key on the linked steam account.
Basically, it only means the buyer must have agreed to the Steam Subscriber Agreement before buying.
I don't know why... maybe something to do with refund requests by people gifting the key to someone who is not ok with the SSA ?
