Hi Maya, thank you for the input.
I am just confused if there are any Steam official terms on this.
There maybe more like banned, removed or something alike.

True. Also apparently the new one is missing the multiplayer mode, which would likely be dead but it still counts as missing content.

ITAD still lists the game as available on Steam but it's pulled from Steam store

That's because the store page still exist but without price, mostly delisted by distributor and not banned ones

It's also because the game should come back this year when the licensing problem will be resolve (https://coilworks.se/blog/2021/9/23/super-cloudbuilt-publishing-changes-and-updates)

It's not delisted, only not sold on Steam.

Still available on GMG, for example:

https://isthereanydeal.com/game/fear/info/

ITAD erroneously displays the game as 90% off on Steam, but it's actually unbuyable other than with the sequels (as FEAR Trilogy). But you can buy it separately on other stores, as the sequels kind of suck

when i checked the Steam link it was linking to something called fear background so it's linking to the wrong game

Are we pointing out faults with ITAD, or actually providing information regarding delisted games?
Because ITAD has a lot of errors with game info, and this is not the site to report those errors.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

It's not a delisted game, but an unbuyable (on Steam) one. It is however buyable on other stores. Just wanted to write about the error because someone probably would click and think it's fine on Steam

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

IT'S THE WRONG GAME THAT ITAD IS LINKING TO.
This is an issue with ITAD, not something wrong with Steam, or the purchasing of FEAR.
Like I said, ITAD has MANY errors, make a new thread or contact the people who run ITAD to sort that out.

They can check this list and see if still available in any official store.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Let's say you wanted to buy Fear but realized you can't anymore. Would you just search "buy Fear" or would you search "list of games that I can't buy from Steam, but available in other stores"?

For me it is the first one for sure, which is why I find posts like these pointless.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

That's true. But I see this Thread more than a "coincidentally found thread". Sometimes you want to buy a game later and forget to put it on your wishlist - or you don't realize, when it's gone from it. Here you are reminded if you see the Thread.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

If you forget it, it means it is not that important to remember?

I mean, I can't imagine someone mourning "I was going to play FEAR but I forgot, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" or "Thank got this thread save me, I almost forget I was dying to play this game" lol

I asked to learn why it is useful You are welcome to give an answer to that, but otherwise please don't interfere.

Permalink

You are overacting. It is not that dramatic, but it can happen, that you forget something because you want to do it later - in this case play a specific game.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Which brings my first answer :) If that game is specific enough to remember, I would just google it. If that game is not specific enough to remember, but overall ok game to play, there are lots of ok games to play. I doubt you will lose a unique experience overall.

Anyway, I asked to see why it is not pointless, but in the end I still think it is. It's alright if you find it helpful tho.

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

You named another reason why this Thread isn't pointless. Even if the game you forgot isn't listed here, the Thread itself can remember you that you wanted to play a specific game and you look it up - if it's still sold on Steam or not.

Sure there are lots of (good) games to play, but that also is a reason that you can't play every game at once and may forget it over time.

Well, that doesn't make sense at all haha :D Which part of the thread will remind me a game that is not even in the list? Just because the thread name has "game" in it? Don't forget which forum we are in as well.

Sure there are lots of (good) games to play, but that also is a reason that you can't play every game at once and may forget it over time.

Exactly! You can't play every game, and the fact that you forgot it means the game is clearly not special enough for you to remember anyway. Instead of thinking "was there a game that I forget to play" or looking "games that I can't buy from Steam but can buy from other places", just look at your preferred store and buy if you think it is an interesting game. It's not like those "forgotten" games will haunt you in your dreams or something like that.

The point is to find games, which you can't buy in Steam anymore, but are available on other official reseller sites.

THIS IS NOT A TRADING SITE.

Please don't promote this under the Deals section

Don't link to GG.Deals, as they link directly to gray resellers.

Please read the Guidelines of this site:

Reselling keys and links to reseller stores. Do not use our site to resell keys, and do not post offers from stores which allow third parties to resell their keys or gifts. For example, do not ask others if they are interested in buying your leftover keys from a recent bundle purchase, or link to keys for sale on sites such as Kinguin, G2A, or Eneba.

you can disable those grey market on gg.deals
so I don't think it's direct link to grey market
and their interface show better information than ITAD sometimes
I can remove them, if many other users ask
Or mods tell me that GG.deals are not allowed in SG

Same goes for all of the Capcom games mentioned, so:

Lost Planet 2
Lost Planet: Extreme Condition Colonies Edition
Resident Evil Operation Raccoon City
Street Fighter IV
Street Fighter® X Tekken®

are all just disabled temporarily due to GfW Live and hopefully will be available again eventually after a patch.

How do I distinguish the difference?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Example for "Crystal City":

https://steam-tracker.com/app/473740

Just plug in the appID of the game. It will say like:

  • Purchase disabled
  • Delisted
  • Banned
  • Retail only
  • etc.

Nice tool, but how do this site distinguish if a game is Delisted or Banned?

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

There's a large community behind it interested in tracking these sort of things:

https://steamcommunity.com/groups/RemGC/discussions

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

I see.
This group has some not-so-easy restrictions to apply, so I think the information is not public for mediocre users.

I am still curious what's the conditions to distinguish Delisted or Banned.
Thank you =)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Actually while group membership has certain requirements, the discussions are public and anyone can participate.

Here's the description of each state:

  • Purchase disabled = Apps that still have store pages up but cannot currently be purchased.
  • Delisted = Apps that have been completely removed from Steam store.
  • Banned = Apps that were delisted for some rule violation (review manipulation, inventory/market manipulation, scams, etc.). Not visible in the Steam API.

There are other "special" states like:

  • Open sub = Apps that are purchasable, but have disabled store pages.

E.g: Dollar Dash, while the game doesn't have a store page anymore, it can still be purchased through this sub page: sub/25761

Another example is Aerena, a free-to-play game that doesn't have a store page anymore, but can still be freely added using steam://install/247830

and how you see different between delisted and banned ? both have still the community hub ? so only the "people" can say the difference ?

delisted not completey removed from steam - the hub stays forever. unless the game was Never Really Released.

So the difference between Delisted and Banned is to check if visible in Steam API.
I got it =)

Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Correct. You can try it yourself by calling the Steam API (you will need to generate an API key first):

https://steamapi.xpaw.me/#IPlayerService/GetOwnedGames

This will retrieve owned games of a specified user (JSON response).

I just tried it on my account, and checked the following two games that I own: 473740 (banned) and 224220 (delisted). As expected the banned game was not included, while the delisted one was included.
