Music, unfortunately, tends to be pretty much an afterthought for most video games, even AAA ones.
While not necessarily 'epic or exciting', Final Fantasy X has an undeniably excellent soundtrack throughout.
I also appreciated Charnel House Trilogy's atmospheric, mood-setting ambient soundtrack. Of all the games I've played, I think those were the only ones that really stood out for me. I mean, not that I haven't on occasion found myself mentally humming Super Smash Bros songs or, heavens forbid, this track. :P

Heard the main theme and I liked this! gonna check this later! thanks!

If you like that game's soundtrack, Skullmonkeys is the sequel to The Neverhood, and it may be worth checking out as well.
EDIT: My favorite track from Skullmonkeys is the bonus room theme, but it works best if your first time hearing it is during game-play.

Hotline Miami 2 <----- a must
Dark souls series
Frostpunk
Hollow Knight
Strafe (underrated)
The Witcher 3
Deus Ex (the original)

Bloodborne (ps4)
Slient Hill 2 (a 100% must)
Crypt of the necrodancer

Based on your musical taste, I recommend you to try NieR:Automata. The soundtrack is amazing, and during the game, it subtle changes in real-time according to the action or moment during the game.

FTL is not visually impressive but that game is really good, it also goes on regular sales, I think you can get it for cheap and it's easily worth 3 times it's full price. There's some steam games that define the platform, FTL is one of them.

The Metroid series is really good generally.
But out of indie darlings, Titan Souls gets my pick hands down.

A game? A game? Sir, I will give you my personal Top10-and-10-more-and-5-more-why-not list, with links to some of my favorite items of each!! :D :D
I have no life!
(Though these are mainly judged by how well they fit the game they are in, not necessarily how well they sound by themselves.)
Sorry, I got overexcited there.
By style, I would say:
EPIC: 1, 3, 13, 17, 18, 22, 25.
BEAUTIFUL/SAD: 4, 5, 6, 10, 11, 12, 14, 15, 19.
EXCITING: 1, 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, 11, 13, 17, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, 25
Oh, 16 (Heist)... Yeah, that is just so harmonic, it fits so great with the game, and it is by Steam Powered Giraffes, so... yeah.
And 23 (BG&E)... it is just so different and wonderful, it deserves a mention. Propaganda!
Cheers!

Hmmm...
Crypt of the Necrodancer.. not sure if that is actually a fair comparison, considering the 'soundtrack' is directly part of the gameplay or game mechanic, unlike with any other game on that list (or basically at all).
But otherwise, very nais list, I agree..Transistor, Morrowind, BG&E, Homeworld, Ocarina of Time, FF, Shadow of the Colossus.
These would be my first picks as well, pretty much..

Agreed... But when the shopkeeper comes in, I just have that "this is fantastic!" feeling, so I had to write it in.
The Lord of the Rings is kind of cheating too, since the music comes from the movie. But it fits really well with the game scenes.

A lot has already been named :)
Those are also nice:
Cave Story +
Frederic: Evil Strikes Back
Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance
Superbrothers: Sword and Sworcery EP
And if you want to hear Game Music played by an orchestra, then you should have a look at the albums of Video Games Live :)

A Hat In Time's soundtrack is one of its best strengths

Not on Steam, but the 3 Donkey Kong Country games for the SNES had great soundtracks.

None of these are in the style of Attack on Titan's soundtrack, but may count as new experiences;
DOOM (2016) by Mick Gordon (progressive metal). [Ivannes beat me to it.]
The Last of Us by Gustavo Santaolalla (Andean guitar/lute - Wikipedia has more about the instruments).
Brigador by Makeup and Vanity Set (synthwave) - the DLC contains 4 volumes and an audiobook.

I love songs/soundtracks in general, my favorite composer is Hiroyuki Sawano who has composed some animes like Attack on titan and Re:Creators.
Epic soundtracks, beautiful or exciting are part of my routine, I always leave my home listening some soundtrack.
I'm currently looking for new experiences so any suggestions for games with great soundtracks will be appreciated <3
Here is one of my favorites soundtrack
