I just bought an XBox controler for my PC and I really want to use it more so I want to ask the great community of SteamGifts: what's the best game to play with a controller in your opinion? I don't really like MMOs but if it's good and free I'll try it if anyone suggests one. I don't like racing games either.

I guess racing games will benefit the most from using a controller. GRID, DiRT, NFS, etc.

You could also try out 3rd person games, like Assassin's Creed, Darksiders, Max Payne, and such. If you want.

you're FIRST. and thanks for the heads up I didn't think about racing games, i'll change the post. Also I already played Assassin's Creed and I'm already playing Darksiders 2 and really enjoying it. I saw Max Payne but it doesn't really interest me especially because I heard bad reviews and heard that it's 90% cutscenes and 10% game.

Sonic Generations is good.

I'd either say fighting games like street fighter or some other bullshit even racing games. I perfer a mouse and keyboard for MMO's and any other kind of game.

As person below said, racing games are excellent for this, I recently acquired a 360 pad myself...The other game which it is amazing for of course, is twin-stick shooters, as it has..well...twin-sticks. Binding of Isaac, for example, even though this may take a bit more effort to get working, is an amazing game to play with it. Also, plane combat games, such as Wings of Prey are pretty damn neat.

Thanks for the replies. I never liked sonic games so generations is out for me. I totally forgot about it but I have Street Fighter IV so I'll try that too. I was never a fan of twin-stick shooters either but there are some fun ones. For plane combat games I'm always waiting for a good so if you suggest Wings of Prey I'll check it out and see for myself

Platformers: Super Meat Boy, Explodemon, Braid, and lots of other great indie games.

AAA titles vary. Action games are generally designed for controller use, but keyboard/mouse will be superior for shooters.

Try the Batman series! Or Just Cause 2. Or Grand Theft Auto.

I don't want to play SMB right now I don't know why. I used a generic gamepad for my 2nd playthrough for Skyrim although I haven't finished that yet, because I'm stuck at the start of the Pilgrim's Path. Somtimes it sucks to be a mage. I have FIFA 12 but it's not that fun alone and getting my generic gamepad to work with it is a pain in the ass. If you know of any good games on NES, SNES, GBA or N64 you can suggest them too because I use emulators a lot and the 360 pad helps because with a generic gamepad it barely registers the analog sticks correctly (by that I mean that if I push it a little bit too much it thinks I'm pushing it all the way. Also is push the correct word to use? My native language is not English so I'm not sure.)

for the emulator try: Megaman Zero (4 games) and Metroid games (Super metroid [SNES], Zero mision [GBA] and Fusion [GBA]) and starfox 64 for N64...
you can try dolphin for GameCube Games, if you can run skyrim, probably you can run the emu...

Yeah I forgot dolphin. I tried playing gamecube games (Paper Mario 1000-year door, mario power tennis) but they have slowdown almost always so I stopped.

I forgot! I played through Batman Arkham City, so I doN't plan on playing Asylum right now. I played JC2 but I got bored of it. And I don't want to play GTA games now.

I saw the shank series but I don't really like it. I checked Rust hearts (even though the link doesn't work) but it didn't really appeal to me.

lol try to get a gamepad working on one

I actually do play CoD but I'm in the weird part of the CoD community who play CoD for fun, and don't hate other games, and I never really get angry, I usually laugh at my failures.

It's not a perfect port, but it's playable and there is a res fix. Just hope there will be a fps unlock sooner or later tired of being capped at 30 :/

They won't release a FPS unlock, someone will probably figure it out sooner or later. They only ported it since the PC community wanted it bad so they just threw it out there with an FPS lock and a RES lock.

Hey, it's your thread, you're entitled to having a taste of your own. :) And if they know what you like and don't like, it's easier to recommend something. Sadly I don't have an xbox controller, so I'm useless here. >_> Just wanted to tell you not to feel bad about it!

lol, sorry sorry! um... some good examples above, like Darksiders or Assassins Creed. wouldn't recommend stuff like skyrim or fallout3 or gta games cause usually you need some precision with aiming.
