I'm a bit confused... the game is banned from steam and accounts are converted to gameforge (the new publisher for this game) and a registration for the upcoming closed beta is free... so, for what is this GA?

You should be able to still get the game from the code, you just cannot purchase it from the store to my knowledge, since other games that are removed from steam stay in your library and can still be gotten from codes.
