Happy birthday! I'm sorry you're struggling with medical stuff (the system always seems broken somehow regardless of which country someone's from), but it's great that you've made it another year.

Thank you, well we atleast get some "care" without putting yourself in debt for life like in America.
We had basic free healthcare for everyone up till the late nineties, then it had to be commercialized. They say it gets more expensive, but the amount of layers of paperwork and managers, that's a majority of the problem, but yeah what can we do? Hearing canada also got their problems with farmers and such.

But quitting is not an option eh. May 2023 be better for everyone.

Hear, hear. (And we do have some problems with rural care, but the government does at least attempt to fix the problem by subsidizing any doctor who works with rural communities by a significant amount.)

Atleast you got a government that does try to fix something, ours only tore things down in 20 years, one of the richest countries we were but so many foodbanks since. And doctors here been on strike a few times now, so have been nurses and teachers.

Our biggest worry? Energy prices going from 200 to 800 a month...We got children going without food to school, there was no money they said to help us, yet the next day they gave 700 million extra for refugees (and not the ones really seeking help coming from war zones but coming for the free housing/money) and 20000 houses (while many are 15 years on a waiting list) Priorities eh?

I just try to live by the day, i worried much about the future, but that doesn't change things either. ;)

700 million...are you talking about the funds the EU gave (mainly) to Greece to help with the refugee crisis? They said that program isn't diverting funds from the 1.1 billion budget for poverty aid, so you don't need to worry about it coming from the same pool, so to speak! It's mainly for urgent humanitarian aid and to help process and resettle people.

ETA: I looked up the housing, too. Do you mean AirBNB offering temporary housing for refugees globally? That isn't coming out of the EU budget either, but it is generous of the company.

No it's 700 million extra of dutch tax payers money to help them with housing here, but they also get living money, and basically everything free (which tax payers pay), yet 2 million people here (even with a good income) are driven to poverty, or even homelessness.

And we gave Greece, Italy, Spain a lot of money years ago too already also from our own tax payers money.
Even hotels (that normally cost 160 euro a room per day) and cruise ships are being bought up, it's a big business for the organization that handles refugees here. They are handing out flyers in foreign countries and even have videos made in africa on youtube on how this is the place to be.
Refugees should be taken up in the first country they arrive at, but they cross 7 countries to come to us why we call them fortune seekers, we gained 100.000 in 1 year (on a population of 17 million).

And no 20000 social housing places, real houses, people that lived in their house even had to move out in place for refugees, our government even made a law that can disown a property owner and let them make room for refugees.
We got hundred of thousands that live with their parents because we got 100-200.000 houses short and we can't build because of EU pollution rules,

And just read today with the energy crisis even businesses are forced to shut down because they can't afford it anymore, even a simple bread can become very pricey. If you can't even afford that anymore, it's getting kinda sad.
