Never played doom? TBH I don't play first person shooters and I still think it's good, you should try it.
If this one is too retro for you, the Doom (2016) game is amazing, old-school fun that you can find for a few bucks if you wait for a discount.
I grew up on Gothic (2001), so can't be too old in terms of graphics. I did try DOOM a few times, but bounced off mainly due to the controls. By never played I meant not completing even one level. Definitely on my to try list. I have the Doom Eternal which was free on Microsoft Store, so likely will start off with that.
Gothic 1 was really a time in gaming, yeah. Nothing in common to this series, but sadly, Doom series aged better.
If you got the second part for free, yeah, might as well give it a go. You won't get the story, but I doubt anyone does without being too literal. It's just a shooter game, kill demons, have fun :)
