WARNING: THE TITLE AND THE ID HERE ARE WRONG. THIS IS NOT Check vs Mate. THIS GAME IS Battle vs Chess.

I believe the name difference is due to the game having a different name in different regions? I could be wrong, though

I am not aware of that. Also, the App ID showing on Steamgifts is different than the one on Steam.

I think it would be better to create a support ticket about it, so they add Battle vs. Chess too. Check vs. Mate/Battle vs. Chess are basically the same game, but different versions with different steam pages/ids. Check vs. Mate (here) only leads to the Battle vs. Chess site when opening the Steam page in certain regions.
According to steamdb Check vs. Mate is only available in the US, Mexico and Canada, while Battle vs. Chess is available in the rest of the world.
The other thing is, that only one of them - Battle vs. Chess - includes cards, while Check vs. Mate doesn't have them. And since they don't have a region restriction according to steamdb, it's possible to activate a key for Check vs. Mate even if you don't live in one of the three countries it is available. You just can't find it on the Steam page.
The problem:
If your key is for Battle vs. Chess, it's possible that the winner will have a "non activated win" according to sgtools, since he/she won Check vs. Mate, which Isn't activated.
Furthermore, you can still enter the giveaway even when owning Battle vs. Chess - since they are different packages. You just automatically get redirected to the Steam page of the game which is available for your region.

I already contacted support and was hoping that I will receive a reply before the giveaway ends.
This is an old issue that it seems nobody really gave a clear answer to. It appears they have different names, depending on the region.
The same thing as with Saints Row IV: Game of the Century Edition vs the National Treasure Edition - they all have the same content but different names, based on the region.
Will contact the winner just to clear things up.
Hopefully, the support team responds with a solution to this, so that winner will not get confused in the future, or enter giveaways for the same game, that just happens to have a different title.

Check Wiki, same game.

What Ipdude said. Long story short (from Wikipedia) is that Interplay sued for trademark infringement because Battle Vs Chess was too close to their "Battle Chess", they won, and Battle Vs Chess was renamed Check Vs Mate for North American release
