Apart from all the obvious ones like cures for terminal illnesses and climate change, I think eradicating the common cold would be revolutionary, and I'm sure I heard that they're not too far off 🤞

I think we will be good to meet in normal ways one day. Even if this will be possible in 50 years, then I don't think it will be publicly accessible and our country is too small to even have something like that non publicly so I can break there and use it.

Except maybe instead of restricting to solar panels, free energy by any means. It's scary to think what that would do to humanity. It would of course be amazing but in the long run would enough people be able to find jobs? Would populations all over the world explode? How would that affect ecosystems etc... makes me nervous!

If the second law of thermodynamics was ever proven wrong, that would be a total game changer. The ability to recover all energy loss of processes would make things much more efficient.
Not that I think this will ever occur. But one aspect of science is laws and theories like this can never be proven right, only proven wrong or having a lot of evidence suggesting they're probably true

And second part of your question.. well it's interesting to think of it.
I'm writing stories.. so I had thought for some scenaries, which are possible change the whole life. A really fun idea (sure fantasy stories are everywhere, but I think it is interesting to talk about it xD): For example what if when there is a underground society of wizards, vampires, unicorns etc., who are hiding from us humans? And because of the climate change in the future they have to reveal themselves and work with us together to rescue our earth? After this mission or during the mission it would change a lot. More after that it would change everything what we believe and surely it can help too. New ways of cureing illness, "wizard travels", time travel..
Or they discover Atlantis from the legends and find higher technologies etc. that cures every sickness or to clone people for example. I have to think about it, if it's morality to use it? Are we allowed to play god?
Or another way to get an eternal life: Can change the world too. No one has to die, but the human population has to be restricted. Like China: One child policity? Or only rich or smart people?
Or what if there is a proof that we didn't have only one life (Rebirth-Theory) and they find a way to restore all past life memories? death penalty couldn't scare, because humans know they could come back? Details of history could completely change, because they could ask witnesses of the different timelines?
Or the discovery that there is more then one dimensions parallel to ours and they find a way to travel from one in another?
Well some of the theories aren't really scientific, but there are many ways of changing the world in one moment. But this is really a 100% "customized" comment xD Hope you have fun of reading it ^^
