I'm not generally one for exposition, or maybe I am, anyway... when I decided to take on this endeavor I already had some stresses in life, but stuff hit the fan yesterday. Spent a chunk of the day yesterday with my kid at the ER for a concussion he received at school. Today, I've got a meeting with his therapist where I'm pretty confident they are discharging him for behavioral reasons plus a lack of psychiatric support. Tomorrow, I've got an appointment with my kid's psychiatrist where I get to have the conversation with him about how part of my son being discharged is because despite it being his idea, he would not make the time to collaborate with the therapist despite me warning him that they would likely discharge my son if he didn't collaborate ASAP. And I won't have any clue how much the ER visit is going to cost for a month, but I need to find out about getting the school to use their insurance to cover medical expenses, which I fully expect them to fight.

Updates if you care:
My kid's already doing better
Already reached out to the school about them leveraging their insurance provisions (No response)
Therapist discharged my son yesterday as we expected
Psychiatrist apparently scheduled our appointment for next week despite saying this week

Update again:
Kid's fine
School's insurance said get fucked.

Thank You!
Everything will be fine

...aaah! Awful. I hope the concussion side effects fades quickly for him. He doesn't do any high impact sports or anything does he? It's good practice to avoid multiple concussions close together (6 months, I think?).

I hope things get sorted for you, and things smooth out, and people feel well swiftly. ❤️‍🩹

Oh good. I used to teach Taekwondo, and with people actively trying to kick heads, you had to worry more about repeat concussions! 😄

Hugs from afar.

Best wishes on everything with your son. My son is 14 now and hasn't been to the ER in a few years, but it was always stressful.

Hopefully conducting this train will not add too much to your stress!

Was in on purpose that you wrote about a possible concussion under a "Broken Pieces" GA? :O

Anyway, here is hoping nothing is broken, you and your kid find deserved happiness, and the ER costs do go through insurance. Sending you positive thoughts!

I hope you're able to sort things out with the school and their insurance since he was under their supervision and care at the time of the concussion.

Cannot imagine the heartache and stress involved for you, as in some ways these events are out of your direct control. I hope your family and friends can rally and give you support through this difficult time.

Thats a rough chain of events. But things have tendency to work out in the end I believe. I know its rough but im glad you know your kid has ADHD. I lived in years when there was "probably no such thing" and kids were just "impulsive/hyper". I mean they knew about adhd/add but didnt "believe it". Lack of support till adulthood was not easy. Glad you are there to support and know its a thing :)

Hello, Ignition. Good to know your kid is doing better. I hope the rest of the things get better as well. With a bit of luck the school just agrees. Well, I don't know how that works. Maybe you'll need more than just a bit of luck. But I bet that would be, like, one less thing to worry about, which seems like it would do you good. Crossing my fingers on this side 🤞 Let's hope all gets better 🫂

Oh my goodness. I was really worried, but I'm relieved to hear you're recovering now.
The biggest problem seems to be over, but it looks like the next one (money) is happening.
I'm sincerely hoping everything works out smoothly.
