Rather than thanks, how about sharing your stories about having accounts hacked. Ever had it happen? Was it easy to get back or did you give up? Did you get revenge?

Discuss and GL.

Winner will be added on Steam and gift given directly; gift is tradelocked.

During the glorious days of MSN someone who randomly added me tried to scam me, asking for my credit card information. I sent them a simple bat file that formats system drive. I told them it was my credit card info. MSN didn't have a virus scanner for shared files back then. The moment they received the file they went offline xD

Luckily, none of my 'important' accounts was ever hacked. Once my twitter-account got compromised, but well... I was just suddenly following roughly 100 people from Saudi Arabia or something. Changed the password, unfollowed them and since then, everything's fine.

Thank you.

A month ago i received a mail from ebay, like "thanks for your purchase!". I open the link and there is an order of a baseball hat, in a chinese store, made by a russian guy that stole my paypal password. My fault, i have created that account 2+ years ago and never changed password, and big fault i don't used a unique password.

I contact paypal fast (in 10 min from order) and they cancelled order and i have my money back. Not a big amount (16$) but i'm happy that all go right at the end.

I've had multiple bundle accounts accessed in the past, lost about 150 keys between IndieGala and Groupees, and more seriously, lost my XBox Live account because Microsoft security on Hotmail sucked arse. The run around that Microsoft gave me before having the nerve to tell me to buy it all again (pre order and removed content be damned) is what drove me to Sony.

a wow account on a private server, well, it was quite different, I shared my account with an "internet friend".
I stopped playing and then after a few months I relogged but the account was gone and my friend and his account too, I wonder what happened.
Anyway I didn't wanted to restart wow again, so it wasn't a big loss, but I was quite pissed (he probably swapped ours account to something else)

The only time I can remember an account being stolen was my MSN messenger. I was too young though, so I'm not sure what happened. The only thing they did was say rude things to my friends for one day so I'm inclined to believe it was one of my friends.

I'm using different passwords for everything. A bit of a pain, but with services being hacked now and then, it doesn't hurt. Never have had an account stolen.

Good thing that you got it back, and thanks for the giveaway!

I have a facebook account for a few years, only used it for giveaways and such; no friends added, no socializing done ever.
A few months ago someone took it, changed my name, added some people and tried sell my account and buy some other pages; I have those messages still in the inbox.

Actually, I just wanted to inform you that Netflix, Spotify, Brazzers, Pandora, Hula accounts are very easy to crack, each day thousands of these accounts are cracked. The hackers just sell them later or offer them for free on different forums, im a member of a well known hacking forum and each day im getting a lot of netflix accpunts...

Not exactly hacked, but my visa card got charged for a pair of shoes a few years back. I think someone decided to copy my cc number and use it for their own entertainment. Called the bank and cancelled the card. :( I ended up paying for a stranger's shoes (I think it was about a hundred and fifty for a pair of shoes? Who pays that much for Nike Shoes) as well as the charges for getting another card. Don't let your cards out of your sight guys. =< I'm glad netflix's team worked quickl with you and got your account back!

I actually went back to check my old blog (cringe) and see if my memory's faulty. It was! I'm sorry.

So, what happened was a debit visa card was charged $200++ for a pair of Nike shoes and the bank couldn't dispute the charges until after the money transfer is processed. In the meantime, they inactivated my card and promised to get the money back for me.

Cost for a new card was $7.50 (took a week to get a new one) and the money was in limbo for a little over a week, but the bank got it back. :)

I have two friends who had their steam accounts high-jacked and thankfully they got them back.
As for me... someone made a paypal account with one of my old e-mail addresses (i know that since i got 10 request confirmations with 10 different names from pp) what i don t get it is how they activated, because they did, i mean they put a phone number and all.. so I can never use that email address with paypal since "it is in use"

I hope to never have bigger problems with stolen/hacked accounts. And I'm glad u solved this problem fast :P

Thank you for the chance to memories from the past
