Helloo! I actually got it in a sale at Green Man Gaming a month or two ago(?) Bought it by accident thinking it was another game. So now it shall go free. :)
The first one in the series, as I was considering trying it from the beginning (after a friend recommended). Did not look hard enough because I was tabbing between products... oh well, at least it was on sale lol. Shame it has such mixed reviews.
I loved the original Torchlight. Nowadays it can still be a nice game. You may already have it if you usually get the free games on Epic Store and it is usually cheap. It is nice because it introduces you in the Torchlight style.
Then they made Torchlight 2, I bought it day one but took me years to start it. It is a very very good game in my opinion. Apart from that you can play coop, up to 6 people! It has many mods that make the game longer if you want, I even installed a mod to try how it is played with a controller!! Next time I am planning to play with the controller on my left hand (movement and potions) and the 12 button mouse in my right hand (all attacks and abilities).
I tried Torchlight 3 on Gamepass, I had to start twice (one in offline mode and online in the other case). That double effort made me abandon it, the game looks similar, but it is not made of the same matter as number 2. It was criticized at the beginning because it was worse than number 2. It is truebthat they tried to fix it and added some new things, but the second game was still better when I tried it. I would still give it a go on Steam nowadays (not suscribed to GamePass anymore).
There is also another Torchlight, which is free to play, I think it was called Torchlight Infinity or something like that. The aesthetics, even if changed, look interesting, but the reviews said it was a shitty game that doesn't deserve the previous players' attention. As it was F2P, I added it to my library, but never tried it.
Thanks so much for the insight, I enjoy Diablo and the like so I would probably enjoy Torchlight too (or at least, Steam says it's similar to it...). Got so many games to play first though! 😮💨

different dev team, this was supose to be a always online diablo game and mid dev they changed direction, so was doomed to fail
