Good Luck

Be sure its SUPERHOT VR not just SUPERHOT. If you got it out of the Humble Monthly, its just SUPERHOT.

The solution's easy: when someone types in "Superhot" to create a giveaway, instead of showing "Superhot VR" and expecting people to realize that's a different game (in spite of having the near identical name / logo), SG should show "Superhot - Sorry, you cannot create a giveaway for this game" in gray and prevent you from submitting the form. I'm pretty sure most of these are just created by people in a hurry or who don't recognize the similar name and logo are actually for a variant on the game that's sold as a separate product. Hiding the game just confuses people without actually deflecting them from creating a giveaway.

This is a good idea, you should suggest it on the forums.

It's the number one suggestion under the Bugs/Suggestion forum and has been for two years. The SG team knows about it. Given how often this comes up, I don't know why they don't make it easier on themselves to make the change and reduce the number of bans that have to be handed out.

It's in the thread requesting a master list of games that can't be given away: "Another better suggestion in the comments, is to show ALL games in the list, but grey-out the un-creatable ones and add a tooltip that explain why it cannot be created."

Oh, haha, so it is. It really does seem like something that would be in their best interest, and not too hard to implement, either. I wonder why they're avoiding it.

I don't know - they obviously have a list of ineligible games, so conceptually it shouldn't be hard to implement the change.

Personally, I'd like to see users be able to create 0 CV giveaways for free games that don't count toward your sent/won ratio and aren't visible except through one of the special views (like Wishlist or Groups, on the left side of the page) unless you opt-in with a checkbox in Settings. That would let people create random-winner giveaways that are protected against bots, like other giveaways, while preventing abuse for CV.

I think one reason they don't do this second part is that it could lead to people regifting freebies from other sites, which could make some folks angry. If Indiegala creates a giveaway to promote their site with Solarix, then it starts showing up in bulk in Steamgifts as people harvest it from Indiegala, IG's got a right to be pissed. SG is getting ad revenue from the giveaways while SG users aren't visiting IG's site - only the harvesters are, who are probably using scripts and multiple email accounts, then using freebie giveaways on SG to promote themselves (whether twitch and youtube channels,or some other form of advertising).

I actually just want regular Superhot but you can't make giveaways for it anymore because of a tiny promotion they were a part of.

If you get regular version, you still can't mark it as received if you don't want to get suspended.

I know, it's why I didn't enter it.

Why? Just enter it, win the game, activate SUPERHOT, click on not received (because you didnt won VR) and you have free game. Thats not your problem if he give away the wrong game.
