Congratulations! You found the hidden train. Now let's see if you can win any of the games in it, and if you're able to find the hidden objects in them. Good luck! ๐Ÿ˜Š

This is an unrevealed Indiegala key. For my convenience, I will use Indiegala's own gifting mechanism by which the winner will receive an email at the address they have specified on their SteamGifts profile page.

If you win the GA and don't have an Indiegala account, plese let me know and I'll try to reveal the key myself.

I love Magic Eye images :-)

Not my kind of game, but I loved the puzzle! Brings back memories. My friends and I were obsessed with Magic Eye images. It was hilarious how the group split between "that's so cool!" and "you're all just making it up". Good times. :)

Hehehe, yeah, I used to belong in the second group until one day I miraculously managed to see one of those images. From that day on I was in love with stereograms. ๐Ÿฅฐ

Haven't seen a Magic Eye image in years. It took me some time to see the 3D-graphic. Thank you for the fun puzzle and the awesome HOG-train!

For some reason the letters being diagonal really messed with my eyes. Thanks for the train!

It's been a long time indeed, since I saw one. The very first one (aeons ago..) blew my mind. As soon as I saw this type of pic it just clicked..
PS. I know people though that cannot see it because of shortsight problems and great difference of values between the two eyes. Maybe they can with a lot of effort but it's very staining on their eyes.

I'm somewhat concerned about those who are physically unable to see stereograms. But I guess they can always ask someone who does to "decode" it for them. Provided they figure out it is a stereogram, of course... ๐Ÿ˜

I believe there are online โ€œunscramblersโ€ that can extract the hidden image. (I was thinking of doing a puzzle involving stereograms as well and did some research a while back.) Of course as you said, knowing what it is is the key!

I've never really been able to see one, but I figured that is what it was almost immediately after zooming and not seeing any small letters hidden anyway, but I saw some "smudges" :) it turns out there are online decoders... https://magiceye.ecksdee.co.uk/

I actually have a Ph.D. in Math/Computer Vision, and I know exactly how the disparity between the textures produces the illusion of depth. I have used Stereograms in talks I gave to illustrate how important stereo is to the perception of depth (along with Edges, Movement, Shading, Shapes and even Texturing). I can even coach some people to see these things (through relaxation or crossing of the eyes).

But, damn, I have such a hard time seeing the darn things myself. :D :D :D

In this case, I actually managed to see the 3D image after a while, but could not quite figure out the letters. So I cheated resourcefully used the same website stlpaul mentioned above. :D

Thanks for the puzzle, and cheers! :D

Heh, a very similar background here. :-D

I used an image editor -- copied the image, shifted it one "pattern width" to the right, and subtracted from the original. What remained was the code. :-)

Thanks for the fun, starporcasa!

I used the same site as paul because i have no chance with my really bad eyes (short sight). I crawl into the monitor, see "nothing" but known exactly that it must be something there.
After 30 min. i gave up -with a headache- and searched for a tool.
Much better from the result :-D

Thanks for the GA's.

I had difficulty with โ€œjโ€, first I took it as l then I, 1, i... I had used small picture so it could be only my problem;)

Same here. It took me a while until I noticed it was a j and not an i

Same! Then I resorted to swapping Qs for Os, took a fair bit to figure it out :)
I'ma bit worried now because my eyes seem to be stuck in magic-eye mode and I have to concentrate really hard to read this page and what I'm typing ๐Ÿ˜…

same here as well. I tried I (capital i), i, J, l (small L)... almost gave up xD

+1, haha, I kept thinking it was an i until I zoomed in on my phone on just that area alone.

I couldn't see these types of images - had to use tools online to decode these

Man, I really liked the puzzle. I was so rusty I had to google some stereograms to retrain my eyes before I could see the code.

We had a book about stereograms in my school's library, and almost all of my friends thought I was making stuff up when I told them what was hidden in each image. I swear since I moved out of my hometown, I haven't seen a Magic Eye image. I'm talking about a whole decade O_O

Thanks for the hidden train star.

Thanks for this puzzle, that was a lot of fun :)
I must say that the J really looked like an I, the curvature on the bottom was really small.
I had trouble doing it with the eye widening thing (that makes the letters pop out) so I crossed my eyes instead and had the letters engraved instead.
It's always helped me with the magic eye puzzles, even though the perspective given is the inverse.

That was an interesting puzzle! I saw some distortions over the repeating grass pattern so I rebuilt the original (non distorted) image and computed the difference between the two layers. With that I was able to get here and learn about stereograms. Thanks~.

Omg, that is the trippiest thing Iโ€™ve ever seen.
Iโ€™d read a book about these a long time ago but had never actually managed to see it, I just remembered the instructions, and managed to apply them this time.
So trippy
Thanks for that, even if I canโ€™t enter lol

I noticed a repeating pattern, so I tried to grab that pattern and then subtract or better xor it. Only part of the image matched exactly, but it was enough to see 4 1/2 letters. Didn't realise it was a stereogram. :o

Also before trying the pattern, I did a Google search and found one other similar image, which I tried to subtract. Needless to say it was a mess, since it resulted in two hidden messages on top of each other.

Nice puzzle. I made a similar thread 3 years ago :)

The only part I had an issue was is the first character. The j really looks like an i because it only has a really small hook on the bottom to make the j. It would have been better to switch the first 2 carts in the train to have more distinct characters.

Here's a stereogram music video.

I truly didn't think that "j" was gonna cause so much confusion. I guessed the dot on top and the fact that it reached lower than the other letters would give it away unambiguously, but guess I was wrong... ๐Ÿ˜…

Woah, that video is really cool! (and possibly migraine-inducing as well)

I had forgotten what these kinds of images were called until now. I love the idea of finding the pattern of the image by crossing your eyes, but I couldn't see it myself. I ended up having to create 2 identical dots and crossing them over to be able to see the letters. I find it interesting how many different ways people solved the puzzle.

I've always struggled to see these. After straining the eyes for much longer than I should have I resorted to using the GIMP with this simple method: https://georgik.rocks/how-to-decode-stereogram-by-gimp/

Like pizzahut above, I found another version of this image on the Internet. I used GIMP maybe 5 imes in my life, all about 8-10 yrs ago, so I had to look for alternatives. And of I'm shortsighted as well.
I figured that if I found the original image I could use online image comparators (like this one: https://online-image-comparison.com/ ) to simply read the answer, but the only other version of the image I had was, well, already written on. Still, I could recognise some letters, and only had to guess about both Q's, whether they were Q, O, 0, or G. Tip about j being 1st made me understand, that the answer is written in one line, instead of in a column (at first, I wanted to ry RQeQj - from top to bottom - just because it was the thing that seemed to repeat),
From then it was just checking 4x4 combinations.
Cheers, and thanks for puzzling train!
