I don't quite understand the inner workings myself, I only know that the Steam API makes it impossible for Steamgifts to track whether one has a DLC or bundle on Steam. It also causes items that you hide manually on Steamgifts still pop up. That means one has to double-check on the Steam store itself to make sure of not having it already.
