The only proper name for such a noble pony is "Bill the Pony". Just ask Samwise.

They released him before Moria, and he found his way back to Bree. They were later reunited with him there, and brought him along to the Shire. He became Sam's pony, unsuprisingly. I'm not sure what happened beyond that, but however many years he lived I'm sure they were happy ones and he was well cared for. The Shire and everyone in it seemed to do fantastically in the time since the halfling crew came back home and set things right again.

A pony protector? I don't even know what that is. I used to have My Little Pony toys when I was a kid. From the cartoons. I don't know what they were called, though. I remember Care Bears name, instead. :)
