Description

Hello, SteamGifters!

I have a friendly support request for you all. Rule breakers get away when nobody checks or reports them. Please check your winners for rule violations before sending your gifts and support will take care of any issues that you flag. SGTools is a great way to do that but it is by no means required! This script helps a lot in streamlining the process.

Help keep SG more fair for everyone!

Also, as a reminder to everyone:

When should I mark a gift I won as "Received" or "Not Received"?

You should only mark a gift as "Received" when you have both (i) received the exact game described in the giveaway, and (ii) activated that game on the Steam account you used during registration. In all other instances you should mark the gift as "Not Received" one week after the giveaway has ended.

What should I do if I win a game more than once, or if I win a game that I already purchased?

When this occurs, you should contact the giveaway creator and inform them you will not be accepting or redeeming the gift. Explain the situation, and ask the giveaway creator to request a new giveaway winner. During this process you should not mark the gift as "Received", or reveal the key if the option is available. This will help inform us that you are not accepting the gift, and it will prevent you from being suspended for not activating a gift you won. Once the ticket from the giveaway creator is approved for a new winner, the win will be removed from your profile.

Thank you! =)

I wouldn't mind checking my winners but I have no idea how this works

Glad you asked! :D

The simple answer is this: visit https://www.sgtools.info for a small set of rules checkers (see the navigation tabs at the top). Enter the username of the selected winner, and see if they've broken the two bigger rules of the site. Namely, have they activated all their wins, and did they win the same game more than once.

*For the second violation, this would only apply when they did not request another user be selected in their place. Also, this is less common ever since SteamGifts added the feature that atuo removes you from giveaways for the same game that you've just won.

The pages you are looking for look like the two links below. Just swap out my username with that of the user you are checking:

https://www.sgtools.info/nonactivated/Gaffi
https://www.sgtools.info/multiple/Gaffi

Hopefully that brief answer makes sense, but if you have any other questions, do not hesitate to ask.

Have a good day!

It does, but my problem is everybody get flagged in there, including you, I'm the only one I found who isn't so far.

Maybe there's something wrong? I just checked myself and yours and both were clear, with exceptions for the Steam messiness of:

  • Steam is learning about this Game
  • Games that cannot be verified as "Marked as Received" by the winner
  • Games that are well-known false positives and have been whitelisted in the tool
  • DLCs Wins that appears as not activated

For most of the above items, the Steam API either works in a weird way (not at all) or the game configuration itself has something inconsistent about it.

For example, DLCs do not track the same way in the Steam-side data and thus cannot be properly tracked via this method. Though, they can still be found in other ways, for example, Steam will prevent you trying to gift a DLC to a friend who already has it.

The SGTools checker hides these results by default, so anything that's a true infraction to be flagged would appear right on the main page when loaded.

Thank you for this explanation, I was wondering how I was supposed to know while there were so many flagged games.
I used it earlier and found someone who apparently didn't claim a won giveaway, I reported them with the link and the explanation, I hope that it was what I was supposed to do.
Thank you again, I'll do my best to check all my winners from now on :)

I just reviewed your ticket and resolved it. I will say this here, since we're in the middle of a conversation already, but normally there will be no comments on User Report tickets. They are disabled entirely. Please trust that, even if you hear nothing in regards to your ticket, we still look at them.

As far as creating tickets like that, you're more than welcome to, but I only ask that users check at the time their own giveaways end. There's no need to spend your own time tracking down and reporting as many users as you can. Checking before you give a game is just a convenient stopping point. :)

Wow, thank you for all the explanations :) !
I'll continue to check then and give the game right after if it's the right thing to do ^^
