The Stage

Finally a real mountain stage but unfortunately the finish is downhill and not up the mountain. Will we see lizards basking on warm rocks? Will the general classification riders control the day or will there be a succesful breakaway with riders not considered a threat? Thomas Voeckler has won twice around here and the French are no doubt willing him to win again. Joaquim Rodriguez might have lost some time on purpose the previous days just for today, we'll have to wait and see.

Winner: Chris Froome; he must have trained a lot on his descent.

The three day ride climbs all these mountains: le col des Bordères (1156 m), le col des Tentes (2208m), le Col de la Hourquette d’Ancizan (1564 m), le Pla d’Adet (1580m), le col d’Aspin (1489 m), le col du Tourmalet (2115 m).
