I've heard the same, even though I bought it day one (in a steelbook, I think!) when it came out for the PS2, then proceeded to never play it. Reviews were divisive at the time and I think I just took them at face value without trying it for myself.

I should've known better, I liked Super Mario 2 (USA), Zelda 2, The Wind Waker, Mega Man Legends and likely others that weren't loved (at the time).

If I win this, I will play it right away.

Never played this one to be honest though surprisingly I do know of some of the characters and a bit of this story from their appearances in other FF media.

Sadly I really didn´t enjoy my time with the game back then. For me it was similar to FF2: Filled with great ideas, but somehow none of them really worked. I mostly enjoyed the feeling of a huge, breathing and connected gameworld that FF12 transported well, but as a PC-gamer I´ve seen other games do this better at that point.

In general I wished they would´ve released this one for PC. The graphics and menus seemed made for higher resolutions than the old CRT-TVs. The open-world-areas, while beeing well crafted and feeling connected, had to be broken off into little parts and the gamesystem, world and quests basicly screamed for an active modding-community. This is the only Final Fantasy in the series that gave me a feeling of beeing seriously held back by its platform.

The remaster seems to address a lot of the games old flaws and I´d love to give it a second run on my Steam Deck. Its also the oldest FF I haven´t replayed yet, so its about time xD

such a good giveaway! would 100% this game so hard if i won lol. this is like the most expensive final fantasy game to get on steam. square religiously never lowers the price on their games, and even sales they never give more than 50% off. its the only reason i havnt bought this one for myself

I'd tried this out back in the old PS2 days, but my CRT television was so small I struggled to make out any details at all.. Have had the steam release on wishlist for a while, but it never seems cheap enough to buy (Squeenix keeps those prices up even so many years later). Many thanks for the chance!
