Ooooohhhhhhh....
I played 64 games this year so far, some of them big AAA titles.... and this was the best of the 64, IMHO. Good luck to the entrants! :D
Just remember: this game is played KEYBOARD only, no controller, no mouse. And it is perfect for this game.
Cheers!

Oh, that's interesting, because based on the games I've finished this year, I've got a similar number to yours (it'll be 61 by the end of this month). Can I ask if you've got a list of the games you've finished, so I can see which games lost to this one?

I see you do not know me.... you are asking me for a list? FOR A LIST????
...
WELL, I LOVE LISTS!!!! :D :D :D (Feel free to share yours)
Here they are, more or less in order from "most enjoyed" to "least enjoyed".

It's interesting that there quite a lot of JRPG games here, I can't say I often come across fans of this particular genre. Big respect for System Shock (even though I'm more of a fan of the second one) and Dead Space.
Plus, I'm surprised that Detroit, despite being ranked highly, isn't at the top of the list. If we were to convert it to a ten-point scale, it would probably be somewhere between 8 and 9? I kind of get that as an interactive movie, it's a rock-solid product in the genre that sets the bar for others, but this game's fanbase is super zealous (almost like HK), thinking it's an 11/10 GOTG (Game of the Galaxy, by my own term) that everyone should praise and respect it.
I'm also very curious to know if you've played other games by the creator of AI: The Somnium Files, and what you didn't like about Dark Souls 1 and Undertale. How would you rate them out of ten?
And I guess since I asked you to share your list, I should probably do the same in return. Mine will be in an image. There's a reason why there's no S rank, because for me, these are all time favorites, and I don't think I've found a game this year that's good enough to take that spot.

Right on: Detroit was a 85/100 for me, lovely! But I did love the others even more, so... :D
I played the Zero Escape games, really loved them too (88/100 for the first two, 80/100 for the third). Good stories (despite a few huge contrivances)... though, honestly, these games are better from the mood then the plots themselves.
Dark Souls was really remarkable! Its geography is superb, I love the way the different sections snake around and connect, absolutely lovely! But there are too many "the developers put this here just to screw with you" moments, which killed my exploration mood and a lot of my enjoyment of the game... and I hated the fact that many times dying to a boss made me replay many sections I had passed already (I am a bit old, not too good with hard games anymore)... hence the relatively low 79/100 score from me.
(Funnily enough, I LOVED Hollow Knight, despite being nearly too hard for me as well.)
Undertale... it is super smart, but I found the "fighting" minigames really annoying, I wish I could remove them. And I found the story a bit confusing, only understood it by reading it up later in the web, and even then not all of it made sense to me. 72/100 from me, but I know I am in the minority here.
---///---
From your list... ooooh, PSYCHONAUTS?!?! AWESOME, great start for the "A" tier. :D
The games I have played from your list mostly would fall in the same tiers... oh, ok, Heaven's Vault would be "A" for me, maybe "S", though it has a few flaws, and Bramble was another 85/100 from me. I see you loved Undertale much more than me, as expected. :D Agree with Uncle Marcus, the Oddworld games; you really had a Amanita run there, huh? :D
Cheers!

Question related to Undertale: Did you play it more than once? Because there're different routes (neutral, where you kill some but choose mercy on others; pacifist, where you don't kill anything; and genocide, where you kill everything).

I played a bit, realized that it was possible to do the "pacifist" run, restarted with the intent of playing pacifist. That was possibly a bad decision by me, because that meant I was engaged in trying to find the correct way to win fights, and that is why the fighting action mechanics felt like such an irritation. Maybe if I played "neutral" from the start, I would enjoy the game more...
But, yes, played it only once, pacifist (one reload somewhere to get a second ending).
Cheers!
